This hotel has done a beautiful job in reusing the historic Amana woolen mill. I have stayed in many reuse buildings, but this is the nicest. You feel very much connected to the history, without an ounce of kitsch. I also really appreciated the way they used Iowa wildflowers for landscaping, including lots of milkweed plants, which are the plants monarch butterflies rely on.

We had breakfast at the hotel and it was very delish and well portioned. The bar offers a good variety of beverages and has a small seating area for small groups. There also an outside seating area with a bar area.

Awesome place with a great breakfast and great location in an amazing little town.
-
Room was very clean and the antique decor added to the experience of our stay.

Such a unique & lovely property! The surrounding area is also charming. The staff was very accommodating! Would love to come back!

Very clean, large rooms and a great location.
-
The only inconvenience was the lack of a good place to eat. The menu is very small. The hotel and staff were wonderful

Our only negative experience was a poor meal at the Indigo Room.

The hotel was very nice. We ate and drank in the hotel and it was good. We enjoyed the outside patio area. The town itself was pretty much closed when we arrived late afternoon. We were hoping to eat breakfast somewhere but there was only one place open before 10 am. We were thankful they at least were open though! If you are planning on shopping I’d check times stores are open bc they open late and close early.

Great experience so interesting and beautiful.

In all my days of being in travel, The Millwright is one of the most pleasant stays I've had at a hotel. Has everything you need for a most relaxing stay...spacious rooms, friendly staff, quiet relaxing atmosophere. And it doesn't hurt that it's across the street from the Millstream Brewery! If you're passing through Iowa on I-80 and need some down time overnight, it's about 10 miles north on US Hwy 151 but we'll worth a stop.

Very nice place to stay. Came here for a mother daughter trip to experience the Amana colonies German Village. Staff was very friendly, food was good. Rooms were nice and clean. Shower was a glass door shower, very spacious. Definitely recommend.

The hotel was really interesting. Our only issue was how loud everything is. Laying in bed we could hear the person in the next room snoring. The hallways in the hotel do not have carpet so every noise seems to be amplified throughout the hotel. Then in the middle of the night a couple of trains came by the hotel horns blaring. I had no idea the hotel was by a rail line. So, really neat hotel, but if you like a quiet room you probably won't find it here.

The hotel is within walking distance of pretty much everything in town. There is still a functioning woolen mill on the hotel campus. The Amana Furniture shop is also there. You can watch weavers and woodworkers work M-F at these places. I loved the Warped and Woven gift shop which sells items from the mill.

Had an issue with the room and they were sold out. They fixed the problem immediately and checked back twice to make sure things were okay! Reduced rate for the trouble! Great customer service!

Very comfortable room. Very friendly staff.

Property was very unique and awesome stuff to look at. Staff in the outside bar was extremely slow but inside bar was a new lady who was pleasant and made great cocktails!
-
Everything was great, but the picture of the group of men in the room gives a haunted feel. I would suggest maybe pictures of the mill machinery.

We found this sweet, little gem and thoroughly enjoyed our quiet and comfortable stay in this charming community. It exceeded our expectations! The staff was most helpful throughout our two nights stay from check-in to check out. They were cheerful and friendly. Our room was large, clean and updated. The bed was super comfortable and the linens soft. Was nice to have a little refrigerator and microwave in the room as well as the coffee maker. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and outside on the patio. We loved the quiet evenings and walking around the little community exploring. If you’re looking for a place to unwind and relax in a beautiful setting, this is it!

The bed was amazingly comfortable. The room was gorgeous and we had a great view of the courtyard outside the hotel.
