Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina

Beautiful Marina with lots of music and excitement on the dock's. The hotel grounds were lovely and the service and staff were helpful and welcoming.

The setting is beautiful on the lake.However it takes 20 minutes to get into Bloomington. The Ads for the Hotel gave a Bloomington address but it is inconvenient to get to IU. The room was dirty. The linens on the bed were old and stained. We had three towels in our room, and two pool towels. When I went to the front desk to get some towels, the female attendant acted annoyed that I would even ask for anything much less towels. She told me she didn’t have any towels and housekeeping didn’t clean the room until after our third day. We stayed three nights so housekeeping didn’t do much for us. At one time this may have been a premier hotel but those days are long gone. We won’t be back.

We arrived one hour prior to check in and the staff member would not accommodate an earlier check in.

Whole property need to be blown & sprayed on a regular basis due to spiders and bugs. The rooms need to be dusted on a regular basis also. Woods & water bring spiders and ants

Perfect place to stay near Bloomington. Beautiful location

As we read in a former visitor' s post.. prior to booking..the decor is dated..but clean, safe and very quiet. Note..the rooms only have full-sized beds..no queen or king.

Good value for the price

The hotel is very much dated. The dispenser for soap was broken off the wall and hasn’t been repaired. In the morning the hot water lasted for about two minutes. When we checked out we were told that there were a lot of people staying in the hotel and that’s why the hot water didn’t last long. Parking lot needs better lighting.

More detailed cleaning is needed inside rooms and grounds and bar

At 4pm, we checked in and saw the sign regarding the entire county was under a "boil advisory." After a glance at our phones, we read that water needed to be boiled for 2 mins for it to be drinkable. When I asked the clerk if the hotel would provide drinking water, I was advised they had water bottles for purchase. They were $2.30 and there was no discount even though there was no drinkable water in the hotel. I asked if we could have a tea kettle to boil water. Nope, not available but each room has a coffee maker. That's an unacceptable response since coffee makers do not boil water for 2 mins. The clerk made it clear what we were "on our own" to solve this problem. While I realize the hotel had no ability to prevent the boil advisory, the hotel had every ability to support their guest's health and safety. Water bottles could have been supplied for free (a normal response in such a situation) or, at the very least, sold water bottles at cost and not the 50-70% mark-up that is represented by a 12 oz water bottle costing over $2. This hotel is geographically isolated, and guests have little to no options for other amenities. I attempted to email the hotel to address this privately, but the email addresses on the website bounced-back as non-deliverable and the “contact us” form was also not able to be sent. So, my only option is to address this publicly in this review.

Cancelled my other reservation without reason or cause

Located on lake and outside area is spacious with lots of seating overlooking the water. Boat rental was great with staff being very friendly and helpful. The boats all look very well maintained. Cons: Font desk staff was not too helpful at checkin when we asked about upgrading our room. She said it would be another $80 a night (we stayed for 3 nights). Room was dusty and closet door was broken. Knob missing from dresser which we found by tv. Told front desk but they said nothing and never followed up. We dusted our own room, took out our own trash, and tried to fix the closet door. Trash around the outdoor areas, liter on the ground and trash cans stayed full the entire time without being picked up or cans emptied which created a lot of bugs. The hotel has done some renovations and would be great if cleanliness was addressed. This hotel appears to have done some renovations.

Just wasn't comfortable in

Beach is 2/3 blocks away notop sheets on beds everything closes at 9ish very understaffed very small pool.

Room 240 where we stayed looked newly renovated. This basic room had two comfortable double beds. The room was very clean and quiet. The park view was of forest and road.

Pool was a great surprise clean large. Property was just beautiful. Staff was friendly , restaurant staff included

Check in process was long as there was only one person there and they should consider headcount planning for late check-ins. I arrived at 9 pm

Love this hidden gem of a place…walk out by the lake with your morning coffee and less than 30 min to IU to visit campus. Clean, nice staff and affordable. I really love my stays there !
