Great breakfast (gluten free French toast available), great property, clean, beautiful, and close to downtown

Friendly staff

Attractive Lodge Inn on the mountain. Beautiful scenery of trees. Historic beautiful fireplaces. Good sit down breakfast with beautiful scenic views. Our only complaint would be lack of furniture in our room, no comfy chair and no dresser and just one lamp., Otherwise very nice room and bathroom.
-
Very clean older but updated property. Good breakfast w/ eggs, bacon & toast or French toast included. Beautiful surroundings. Shower pressure was low but sufficient. Friendly staff.

Large comfortable room. Delicious hot breakfast.

Overall it was an easy place to stay and very quaint but had more of a summer camp feel vs a resort feel. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were nice but we stayed in one of the downstairs room and it was very damp, there were cobwebs in the hallway, etc (mid-summer and rainy season so understandable but still wasn't great). The location is great for being super close to the outdoor stuff and the Parkway and also easy super easy and beautiful drive to Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and Boone.

No times available at spa, food was ok but very over priced, need more options for food, especially breakfast. No pool, no jacuzzi… WiFi was inconsistent.

Beautiful location.

Quiet setting nestled back away from the road, with a super friendly and helpful staff, clean room and a delicious hot breakfast with a beautiful sunrise view from either the dining room or on the balcony. We had a great little vacation and plan to return in the Fall!

Pool was under construction but the property had been update and wa in a great location. Peaceful and quiet. The best part was the restaurant onsite and the weather. Enjoyed our stay and will recommend to friends and family.

Customer Service was top-notch! Super kind & pleasant employees were more than happy to give recs of nearby destinations and adventures... all were polite to answer so many of our questions…was neat learning the history of the Inn, too. Building and grounds were so clean and quaint! Rooms were spacious and comfortable… Felt like stepping back into a different time & place; so many great little corners to relax, read, enjoy coffee and/or a drink. So close to great trail heads and fun towns, but far enough into the mountains for wonderful nature quiet and clean crisp air. An amazing retreat!

Very unique and cozy inn, historic properties and character. We enjoyed the breakfast with the view every day in a very nice location. Either library or the main dining area with great service. Just recommended an extra seating or a love seat In the room and maybe a warmer tone of décor. Otherwise, it's great value.

Quiet and peaceful with good views. Breakfast was very good. Staff was very welcoming.

I love the location. The hotel used to be my favorite place. Now they are changing, and seem to be getting rid of the history. It has a wonderful story about the man that built it. Now they are going towards a Holiday Inn feel. I've never stayed there with just a mattress and no bed furniture. They used to have some of the most beautiful furniture in the rooms.

Doing new renovations and it is very peaceful and calm! They are taking away the large indoor salt pool

The property is 10 minutes up a mountain that is located near lots of cool restaurants. The staff was exceptional, they were such kind people. If you are looking for that picture perfect, mountain experience, and simple beauty then I highly recommend this place. Some of the rooms are basic and some are more upscale so truly you get what do you want. There was a lot of construction going on while there so we didn’t explore the property as much as we’d like. But all the more reason to come back.

I found myself just sitting there, soaking it all in, feeling grateful for the peace, the beauty, and the way this place makes you slow down and truly *feel* the moment. Everything here is just done right, the cleanliness, the incredible food, the attention to every little detail, but what really makes it unforgettable is how they make you feel. Seen, cared for, and completely at ease. I can say this with my whole heart: this is the only place I can proudly recommend to anyone. It’s more than a stay, it’s an experience, and one that I carry with me long after I leave. Already counting down the days until we’re back in July!
