The Inn at Canaan

Very expensive for a cheaply constructed hotel. Thin walls, manufactured building feel throughout (floors were echoey and did not feel well constructed, we could hear the TV from everyone’s rooms just walking down the halls) and was over $140 per night on Expedia. Went down for the free breakfast and there was hardly anything left. No soap shelves in the shower (they had been pulled off or fell off and there were markings on the shower wall from where they had been). Had to put our soap and shampoo on the floor of the shower. Storage drawers below TV had not been dusted in a while. Back door entrance from parking lot required key card access, which is good security, BUT it wasn’t working so we had to keep walking around the building rather than enter near our vehicle. We didn’t have a “do not disturb” door hanger, and noticed that other rooms had them. A/C was GREAT and worked well. Front desk staff was super friendly and accommodating. TV worked well. Fridge/freezer combo worked great. Bed was comfortable and clean. Easy check-in and check-out.

The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Good location. Good pillows. What was pathetic was the breakfast. The danishes and bagels had a label that said they were 5 days old. There was no fruit; the other muffins were all processed food. We stayed 2 days and none of the breakfast items were replaced. Each day there was just less and less of the same stale food. The water tasted terrible. They need water filtration.

Centrally located to many outdoor attractions

Very basic accommodations. Bathroom was small and the tile soap dish had apparently broken off in our room, so there was no place to put soap or shampoo while ahowering. Breakfast was also very basic, but to have any breakfast is a plus. Rates were higher than I would expect at this type of place. Location was fine.

The place was in a good location but could use an upgrade.

The front desk recommended a pizza place in town, which was tasty, but they forgot to mention it was cash‑only. Breakfast, unfortunately, was disappointing. I tried to warm up my coffee in the microwave, and the door jammed, so I couldn’t get my cup back out. Overall Is a good place to stay.

Bathroom needed a fan, towel rack in shower broke, breakfast could of been better.

Booked it for the mini golf but they wouldn’t open it because it “stormed” in the morning. Mind you we got there at 6 pm and not even a puddle on the ground and we tried to pay to okay but were denied

This place has clean rooms but carpet and couch had stand that could have been clean but wasn’t they advertising on there web page FREE BREAKFAST but there wasn’t any had to ask two times for hot coffee it was always cold. When I ask about breakfast they said they only have it when there is a lot of people staying there. Price was as high as the two lodges up there at Blackwater and Keegnn, but we picked the end for the free breakfast

Nice clean property, good location.

Magnifying mirror near sink did not work. I would have liked to have left bathroom light on and crack door to use bathroom in middle of night. However, it was fan/light combo only. Too noisy, so pack a night light to see your way around as table lights would have been too bright. Also, no shelf in shower to place shampoo, conditioner etc. Continental bfast was okay, but some protein would have been nice, eg hard-boiled eggs, yogurt etc. Some fresh fruit such as bananas, apples or oranges would also be great additions. Liked cereal, oatmeal, bagels, milk and juice, coffee and packaged pastries.

The room was very clean and modern. Bed comfortable and A/C very good. The only noise factor was the office chair in the room above us. Might consider putting pads down to quite the rollers, especially if a child is above and playing/rolling around in the chair. also putt-putt golf was not available. Needed a shelf in shower, it appeared to have been recently broken.

The hotel smelled great as I walked in, like fresh laundry. It was decorated cheerfully & was welcoming. Front desk staff was friendly & efficient. I had completed some of my check in online, so jt was a breeze. The room looked clean at first glance, but hadnt been dusted. There was a towel smeared with red lipstick thrown beneath the sink. Bed & pillows were fluffy & comfortable. The grounds had cut wood for a bonfire, a nice picnic spot with a small grill, and cornhole boards. I didnt play mini golf but it looked like so much fun! I want to bring my grandkids back. Theres a pizza place 5 minutes down the road...make sure you try the tirimasu. I liked the convenience of the gas station & Subway restaurant right across the street. Its close to everything you want to see in this area. Definitely recommend☆

Weird plumbing sounds in closet (bath plumbing?) Great otherwise 🙂

The location is excellent, with both Blackwater Falls State Park, and Canaan Valley Resort within a few mins driving distance. There's a gas station/convenience store right across, and the Inn is just a few mins drive from Thomas/Davis towns. Breakfast is a mere grab-and-go, with severely limited options, and I didn't see the staff restocking the supplies either.

Clean, modern facility. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. No complaints
