Surfsand Resort

Overall it was a nice facility. However, the walls and floors are paper thin. We had a beachfront room but our view of the beach was blocked by the shrubs in front of us and the building to our left. So, be sure to get a room with a full beach view if that's what you expect. We could hear kids from the floors above us. The room appeared to have been renovated somewhat but the flooring was peeling up in several places and needs to be replaced. It was nice to receive two drinks and cookies at check-in after a day of traveling. We appreciated and used the dinnerware, glasses, mugs, and eating utensils provided in the room. It doesn't sound like much, but it was nice to have a cork screw and roll of paper towels too. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast at the Wayfarer was delicious, service was great, and the meals are reasonably priced. We also received 4 complimentary bottles of water; 2 in our room and 2 at check-out. We expected a building with better quality sound proofing given the price point. Fortunately, the kids settled down shortly after dark.

Great location near haystack rock. The value for the money scores a zero - crappy mattress, plastic furniture, mediocre shower/water pressure, etc. Helpful that the hotel offers a shuttle to the downtown shopping area but would be more helpful if the front desk would answer the phone when a pick up was needed. in general no one picks up the phone so calling for basic help requires a few tries. While there's a restaurant on site, they do not hold tables for guests so one has no choice but to drive or walk 15 minutes to town for food (which would be fine if you don't have small children). Bonfire on the beach was a nice add and this is why I didn't only give a single star.

Stayed with 2 young kids and the location cannot be beat! Steps from the ocean and it was nice to just get up and go walk on the beach, come back, nap and go again. Staff were awesome and very helpful. One of the best things our family liked was walking around the beach and the bonfire in the evening. This is not for the resort but Cannon beach in general, food options for kids is not very great. More options if you actually go into town, but that takes effort. And not something we wanted to do with littles. I found it was a bit challenging to find some kid friendly walkable options for things like a plain good quality mac and cheese, nuggets, vanilla burger, etc. We ended up doing room service for most of our meals and its expensive and very few options but overall was good. The room itself could use a few extra hooks, clothesline etc to maximize space for wet clothes after the pool and beach. However, overall the stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

We enjoyed our ocean view room that was conveniently by the elevator and dog wash station. It was a huge help. We would stay there again and hope to. Thanks SurfandSand.

A very nice place that makes you feel at home. Great cookies when checking in and the rooms are very nice and comfortable. Can walk to many different restaurants and shops. Will stay here again when back in the area. First class facility.

The location is amazing with balconies looking over the beach near haystack rock. For the cost, we were a bit disappointed with the pull out couch mattress quality, but other than that the grounds were a perfect beach getaway

Our experience wasn’t as great as a family with young children. Around 10:00 p.m., staff knocked on our door because we were bathing our kids and were told we were making too much noise, even though the TV was only on in the bathroom. It made us feel like the resort may be better suited for adults than families. The only other issue we experienced was that both the in-room phone and the food ordering app were not working, which made ordering meals inconvenient. Overall, it’s a beautiful property, but I would recommend it more for couples than for families with children.

Fantastic stay! The location is unbeatable, the staff very friendly, and the rooms modern, clean, and comfortable. Loved the thoughtful touches — Aveda products, robes and sand buckets for the kids, cookies etc. We’d absolutely return.

— The screen door is damaged. — The internet is very slow which causes the TV to not function properly. — There is no designated parking space for loading and unloading, so when the parking lot is full the only option is to use an ADA parking spot. — The floor was dirty. — The service at the restaurant next door is terrible.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, and the view was even better—I only wish I could have stayed longer. I also had no idea they offered a shuttle to the nearby shopping area, which was such a convenient and appreciated amenity.

This is the nicest hotel I think we have ever stayed at! The location cannot be beat for Haystack rock. An easy walk to checking out the tide pools. Staff were extremely friendly. Easy check in with welcome beverage. Warm cookies in lobby each day. The hotel hides a glass sand dollar each day and whoever finds it gets free dessert at neighboring restaurant. Our boys found it and were so excited. We don’t have a dog but hotel is extremely dog friendly with homemade dog treats, dog beds, dog washing area and a dog area with goodies in front desk area. Very walkable town! Loved the beach campfires and complementary s’mores. We cannot wait to return!!

Welcoming staff made our check in experience great. Clean room and great access to cannon beach. Balcony was perfect.

The hotel was somewhat expensive but when I was booking in April for July, there were only three options for 4 of us. The room was a little bit tight for 2 adults and two teenagers and meal preparation was challenging.

Incredible stay super peaceful and great staff only thing I could say I didn’t really like was the bed kinda stiff but oh well still slept okay. Would definitely come here again just for the cookies they give out everyday !

Stayed in a lovely room right on the beach. One thing I didn’t think about that might help someone else is that a beach front room with an incredible view also meant that there would be bonfires on the beach each evening. In fact, there were 6-8 of them each evening. And while lovely, the smoke aggravated my asthma. Otherwise, I highly recommend this resort!

Room was great, and the view of the beach was awesome. My only complaint would be the bed is hard and the pillows were not that comfortable. Otherwise great property and location. Cannon Beach is a quaint. Nice beach town.

Love this place. Great location, great rooms, great amenities. We’ll be back.
