Elevator not working, Ice machines not working. Room smaller than what was shown in pictures.

I wish that the beds were mattresses were better. I have stayed at Chesterton location for over 15 years. This stay , the mattresses were not great. I feel that the hotel needs a good face lift in all the rooms. I stayed a few months ago and Everything was terrific ! From checking in to leaving . This time around , not so much.

Cleanliness

We had a great time. Only complaints were that the internet was down much of our overnight stay and the ice machine wasn't working. Would stay here again though. Wonderful spot if you want to visit the beach and downtown.

Clean rooms. Helpful staff. Food at the bar was very good.

Maintenance issue were poorly managed. Cold indoor pool. Hot tub jets not working Ice machines not working. Kitchen was outstanding. Front desk young man was great. Even helped out waiting tables.

This is simply not a 4-star property. Two at best. Ice machines do not work, rooms dimly lit with cheap bulbs, cracks in the ceiling, sink and shower, fuzz and dirt all over the room, bathroom exhaust fan not operable, etc. There is little else in the area so this was "the best" option but keep your standards low.

Great place to stay

In addition 5 local teenagers had entered the pool area from an outdoor access door. Poor seurity.. The windowsill had mold. The bathtub was strained. Some of the baseboards were falling off. I wasted my time going to different floors to find ice. Finally went to the front desk. They told that only 1 ice machine is working & it is on the 1st floor. You think they could have posted a note on the ice machines. I'm very disappointed with this Hilton. I paid more thinking it was a Hilton pay more to get a better place to stay. I was wrong!

Everything else… Front desk gentleman was not particularly friendly or sociable. We needed extra blankets for my son who was sleeping on the pull out couch/bed since there was only one thin blanket and a sheet. He acted like it was a chore to accommodate us, and told me that they could only spare one extra blanket. Another critique is the old TVs in the rooms… as well as the lockdown the hotel has on their settings. I couldn’t raise the screen brightness, which was annoying. I like to bring my gaming console with me whenever I travel, and just assume (perhaps wrongfully) that I’ll be able to utilize it when I have downtime. After one of their staff walked me through over the phone on how to switch video inputs (should’ve been 2 button presses on the remote), it was on video 1 - same as my console. However, since the TV was so old, it couldn’t read the input signal from my console. Some research on my phone taught me how to start my Xbox in low resolution mode (which I didn’t even know existed). All of this really just to say that for what I spent on 2 nights at a hotel, I was very unimpressed. Oh, and breakfast isn’t complimentary, it’s $20.

I can't believe this is a Hilton property! Whirlpool not working. The pool itself not clean. We were put in a basement room. No view. The TV and internet was interrupted. The ice machine was broken on our floor. We were treated with indifference at check in

We really enjoyed our stay! It was clean and the staff was very friendly. We traveled with our 2 dogs and there is a large lawn for them to stretch their legs. My only very minor complaints: the ice maker on our floor wasn’t working properly, and our bathroom sink drain was clogged and drained very slowly. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.

Our family stayed for few days on vacation to dune. Overall hotel stay was good however I had negative experience because, I got poison ivy during the trip. Can’t prove where I got it but Rashes started appearing all over my body 3rd day of the trip and I can only think it was thehotel pool/jacuzzi and/or towels. If you see the old jaccuzi, you may agree with me. Towels, because it was areas that i pressed to dry off that rashes began to appear. Prior to symtoms, I was only at Dune/beach for barely 1.5 hours (because soon as we got there, there was storm so we left right away). I did notice, dune was littered with poison ivy which i stayed away from. I was not on the trail, just paved walking path from parking lot to beach. So my theory is I got a towel that wasn’t properly washed that someone who got poison ivy used. Because when I asked for new towels they were still damp. I will say out of family and friends, I was the only person who got it. All over my arms, stomach area, all down both my legs.

After driving 3 hours for a hotel I booked far in advance showed up and they told me that my room had been canceled and it was because of a third party then I get an email from the third party telling me the room was canceled because of construction there was Zero construction equipment for any signs of construction going on the hotel canceled my reservation and tried to blame it on somebody else because they overbooked

I will say that SouthShore Drift Co restaurant was a 12/10!

My experience was influenced by some poor decisions made by the staff. The front desk staff corrected the issue, but could not compensate for the inconvenience. Checked in to room at 2:50pm (3pm check in time). Someone was already in the room, walked in on them. That’s a huge safety concern for system allow keys to be issued to room already occupied or for keys to be incorrectly issued for guest that was not assigned to that room. Had to move that guest to original room assignment. Was assured that room was cleaned as guest was in room and witnessed possessions in bed while they were using bathroom and walked in on them. Nearly missed wedding ceremony trying to get checked in and changed because was delayed an hour and a half. Had to trust front desk that room was cleaned as they stated because did not have time to put luggage in room and had to get ready in relatives room and leave stuff there. When went to move luggage into room, obvious that room wasn’t cleaned by used items and garbage still in trash can. Too late after wedding to do anything about it. When checked out, nothing could be done because no manager on duty and supervisor didn’t have any authority. Have to follow up with email to manager which is gone for a week at different hotel location, so unable to reach via phone.

Convenient to the Indiana Dunes park. Check in was easy and friendly. Room was clean. If I came back to the dunes park I would stay again. There’s a coffee shop down the road, Fluid Coffee, that is very good!
