Tides Folly Beach, Charleston's Oceanfront Hotel

I love Folly beach. And the location of the hotel is excellent. Right on the beach and close to the town.

Note: I highly recommend whatever men’s cologne is being used to camouflage the order, you are better off using vinegar & water. A lot more refreshing and sanitized.

The first day we spent a small fortune renting chairs. No beach towels either but overall very good

Soft beds, clean room, friendly staff. Pinky’s was nice for quick food without leaving the hotel. I wish it did room service. The coffee in the coffee shop is excellent. Parking was easy and no problem finding a spot in the hotel lot. Nice beach area and pool. Close to everything and great view from the balcony. One of the two elevators was broken for less than a day but it was inconvenient when you are on the seventh floor.

Great hotel right on the beach! Walkable area, there was construction going on with the sidewalks so traffic was kinda backed up..probably not the best timing with it being a holiday but they looked like they are moving fast. Other than that we would stay here again.

Oceanfront with beautiful views - staff is very accommodating, in fact they were great. Rooms not clean. Unfortunately, the Tides is not upkeeping the property. Mattresses and pillows are old, towels are old and scarce. We asked 3x everyday if we could have our room clean. There are nicer places to rent on Folly Beach for the same or very close price. The staff made the stay, hard to unhappy on Folly Beach.

The staff was great. Very helpful. The restaurant was terrible, as was the service at the restaurant. The rooms were good. There were very noisy dogs who barked a lot! But, the hotel and location of the Tides on Folly cannot be beat! We will go again.

The Highlights: • Unbeatable Location: Situated right on the beach and directly next to the Folly Beach pier, this hotel is within easy walking distance of local souvenir shops, specialty stores, and restaurants. • On-Site Dining: There is a convenient restaurant located on the property. The Drawbacks: • Cleanliness Issues: While the room smelled strongly of cleaning products, it is in desperate need of a deep clean. We found crumbs on the TV stand, a greasy remote, a toilet that needed attention around the base, and mold with stains on the curtains. • Dated Rooms & Furniture: The rooms are small, and both the furniture and decor are outdated and in need of refreshing. • Maintenance & Balcony: The balcony is tiny, without chairs (though they are available upon request), and was very dirty. Additionally, the bedside lamp was faulty and flickered on and off. Amenities: The hotel offers small beach chairs on a first-come, first-served basis, or you can rent, larger chairs and umbrellas. Final Thoughts: The location is absolutely perfect, but the property severely lacks in cleanliness and regular maintenance. Because of this, we will likely look into other beachfront accommodations on our next trip.

The view was gorgeous. Loved being close to the pier. The staff were a pleasure to work with. I would book Tides again.

There was no microwave in the room, just the fridge. One of the elevators broke down , so this big building was down to 1 elevator. There is a resort fee that will be charged for each day you stay at the checkout. Overall, really nice experience!

We enjoyed our time at the Tides. The proximity to the beach and the many eating places close by, you hardly had to leave Folly. It is also close to downtown Charleston ( about 25 minutes). Highly recommend and we will be back!

However, hotel needs a lot of upgrading. Only 1 elevator workers for our entire trip except the last day; our rooms had severe condensation on the walls and floors to where they needed to be mopped. Unfortunately, no one was available to bring a mop until 9:30am so we had to use towels and clean it up ourselves. They never came with the mop. The phone in the rooms did not work. The door to our room had to be pushed shut to actually close. After housekeeping cleaned the room the door was not pulled to so it was open all day while we were gone. The bathroom door did not close all the way. The coffee shop worker broke down the equipment so that I could not order a drink well before closing. The website to order food online did not work so had to call it in. Housekeeping came by several times and waited outside our rooms an hour before checkout making us feel rushed to leave.

Our beach view was gorgeous, the staff was great and Pinky’s was such a fun atmosphere!

Great beachfront hotel. We loved Pinky's (beachfront restaurant/ bar) and the proximity to the Folly Pier. It was a lovely stay.
