Tides Folly Beach, Charleston's Oceanfront Hotel

Stay was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside was sliding door to balcony. Stuck really bad, in fact if you went out and closed it, it wouldn't open. Glad my daughter was in the room.

Easy check in and out

Perfect location, park and walk to dining and shopping.

Our room smelled like cigarette smoke so we were moved to another room which was better… but generally everything looked old and in need of a fresh coat of paint.

We weren’t happy that the “balcony” wasn’t even large enough for chairs. All the furniture in the room was (old), paint on every picture. Splattered paint on the tv, remote and telephone. The phone had no dial. The bed was HORRIBLE, it was like sleeping on a bowed piece of plywood. We couldn’t wait to leave.

The hotel is a great hotel, but some minor updates/additions to the rooms would make it even better. The rooms have a fridge but they also need a microwave. They could also update the coffee to an option that uses k-cups, easier for the travelers to use and less mess. Water pressure in the shower could also be better, but I would still stay again. The staff was friendly and the hotel is really clean and the access to the beach is amazing. I loved my view of the ocean from my floor to ceiling window that slides open where you can get a great breeze off the water. The complimentary beach chairs are a plus and parking was great. We literally didn't use our vehicle again until it was time to leave because everything we needed was within walking distance to the hotel. Loved Pinkies restaurant in the hotel.

Overall our visit was a great experience! Very clean - helpful friendly staff Beachview was great although the balcony wasn't wide enough for a chair- the door to the balcony was extremely hard to open! It was great to have Starbucks in the hotel. I would recommend this hotel! Parking was very convenient.

Hotel floors stayed wet. Socks stayed wet and all the dirt would be on wet socks. Bathroom door didn’t shut

Baseboards in room were dirty, under the edge of bed hadn't been cleaned well.

I like the beachfront location. There were many restaurants in walking distance. The pool was warm and the ocean was warm. The food and drinks at pinky’s was very good Needs some restoration work. AC was pretty loud.

Exceptional

When we arrived, our room was not ready. We were told we would get a call...never happened. We had to go back to check if it was ready and very casually was told yes its ready like it was our fault we werent in the room yet. Our room was missing some key elements that our friends rooms were not. We did not have a clock, phone or cold refrigerator. When staff was asked about these items I was told I could use my cell phone to call (but they never brought a clock or phone to the room). The toilet paper holder was broken when we arrived. It was replaced the day before we left. The staff power washed the outside of the bldg and water seeped under our door creating a flood in our bathroom. We used OUR towels to clean it up. Called 2 times for someone to come clean it up. Finally staff came and used more of OUR towels and left them on the floor under the counter for housekeeping to pick up, never replacing our towels so we could shower the next day. We called and they said Oh sorry, we can bring towels now. The water smelled, def not the way we should have been treated. We had to ask 3 times for balcony chairs. We had an outlet which had no wall plate on it. Knobs missing from the drawers. Mold on the bathroom ceiling. The sliding door on the patio did not lock. Perhaps its the end of the season and they are understaffed or are just tired. Paid a lot of money to be mistreated.

The room's floor was always wet and cold make it slippery, the balcony’s doesn’t have any chairs or furniture, very inconvenient and unconfortable that the administration didn’t allow to use the pool towels at the beach and the only restaurant didn’t serve breakfast, they open at 11 am with lunch menu.
