Holiday Inn Express Harrisburg SW - Mechanicsburg by IHG

This hotel was completely gutted out for renovation and the staff was rude and nasty and indifferent about the inconvenience of the renovation. The bulletin posted said the renovations would last until May 2026, but renovation was no where even close to being finished as of the end of June 2026.

WARNING!!! Property under construction As of mid-June ‘26. There are notices posted that work starts at 8 AM (which is BS regardless that it would start before checkout time). However, the hammering began at 7 AM and echoed throughout the entire building, work in the lobby area sounded like it was next door to us on the 4th floor. We were given no warning that there was construction happening ahead of arrival.

I had no idea they were under construction when I booked. Signage in building said construction until May. As of beginning of June it is still under construction. The elevator was disgustingly dirty. Thankfully we were in a room that had already been renovated so it was decent. I likely wouldn’t book again.

We have been staying here for years. The staff are fantastic and accommodating.

I had a horrible experience. The hotel is under construction and not in a condition to accommodate guests. The hotel had so much dust that I couldn’t breathe well.

Bed was comfortable and hot water Room smelled bad no alarm clock no phone charger no plugs to charge your phone are any thing you need to plug walls where nasty curtains where nasty the bed frame was nasty and was off by 4 inches on one side

The breakfast was good. Was in a hurry to leave the hotel due to condition of it. The front desk staff indicated the room booked for us was taken. Another room was assigned and check for cleanliness but the toilet did not flush. We were moved to another room that was not spic and span clean. Seemed like it had not been used in awhile and not refreshed. The faucets were not cleaned.

Room was very clean and bed was comfortable Only had warm in the shower the first night. After that it was ice cold and it didn’t matter what you tried or what time of day you tried it

Bed was comfortable Staff did not know ice machines were not operational or not on floor. Had to check every floor. Remote did not work TV. The entire place, walls floors, everything dirty and dingy looking

Friendly staff. Clean room & bed. Easy parking. Fridge in room made a lot of noise all night. No plant-based milk provided for breakfast coffee or cereal. There are many people who can't consume dairy, and also many who are vegan. Don't know if the bagels/breads were vegan, but there was only pb to put on them (for vegan option) and the only hot food that was not meat (x3) was potatoes. If nothing else, please provide a plant-based milk which are extremely easy to purchase these days (oat, almond, cashew, soy milk, etc.) Any of them would be appreciated.

Lastly, the staff serving at the check in desk and in the breakfast area were very kind and excellent overall. Unfortunately one of the managers or the hotel owner was walking around the hotel lobby at night, and in the breakfast area the next morning in bare feet. It felt unsanitary and strange. I was left with the confidence that I had picked the wrong hotel as a single female to stay in, despite liking the hotel chain and the staff personalities.
