Comfortable mattress for sleeping and plenty of pillows :-). Essenhaus is located in a quiet setting away from the hustle/bustle of Shipshewana, yet close enough to easily go to the events and activities in Shipshewana.

We stayed for one night and had a great experience. The staff was helpful and kind, the property clean and well-maintained, and the breakfast was delicious. We loved the atrium space, and the little covered porch area. We had a great stay.

We have stayed there numerous times. The rooms are gorgeous, very clean, and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast is always delicious. One stay occurred between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The place was beautifully decorated. We have NEVER been disappointed with anything while there. Your stay will alwasy be calm, relaxing, and quiet. Beautiful and well maintained grounds as well. We would recommend this place to everyone.

Beautiful Inn, bed was a little hard. Cheap toilet paper.

The only disappointment was our planned "walk" on the path around the beautiful property and over to the covered bridge, etc. Due to the time of year, and the number of geese, the path around the pond areas was basically un-walkable and very unpleasant to the eye.

We have stayed at the Essenhaus at least 5 times in the past year. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is phenomenal and access to walking trails and other activities is great. I have no complaints

Have been coming here for years. The property is lovely, clean, and well managed. The food service has declined notably from the quality it was before. The breakfast was awful - what I would expect from a mid-range chain. Dinner service has declined as well. This is too bad because it used to be a huge draw. Bakery items are now box mix cakes that are full of chemicals snd taste like it. I’m glad I have many of the original recipes so I can make them from scratch myself. To the newcomers, they should be happy. Those of us who remember how it used to be are generally disappointed. It is no longer authentic home style, which is what made it such a special draw.
