Whenever in town, we stay at the Starlight! It’s a true gem!

Kelly at the reception desk was so nice & very helpful! The ambience of the place took me back to the 50s/60s for sure, in a good way of course. Izzy at the pool bar was fab & attentive. Can’t believe I hadn’t stayed there sooner! The location is just a little ways away from downtown, but otherwise it was cute & perfect for my overnight stay.

I loved the look of this motel inside & outside! It is located on Rivers Ave in North Charleston, they have security 24 hours. The lounge upstairs is so cute & quaint! The Starlight was Est in 1961, I felt so welcomed here. Wish we had more time to stay and just hang on the property. We will be back ! Thanks starlight ! Also check out the Harlows brunch coffee spot located in the lobby of starlight! Loved the birthday cake latte! See you again Starlight Motor Inn!

The idea of the hotel is what appealed to us most, which is why we booked it. The check in process was very easy because they text you an access code to get into your room. No keys needed. The room is pretty standard...nothing fancy. The bathroom sink had only a dribble of water. The hotel itself is not in the best area but we had no issues. Not sure that we would book again.

We met the manager Hank upon arrival and he and Kelly at the front desk made us feel very welcome. Our retro room was great and the bed was extremely comfortable. The large pool can accommodate a large group of folks without feeling crowded which made our swim lots of fun. The motel is near Park Circle which has lots of dining options and we capped off the evening at the lounge bar where the manager Cheyanne took great care of us. They had a duo playing drums and keyboard and we enjoyed the vocalist. We will surely be back!

Wow! What an amazing gem we found for our trip to Charleston. The Starlight was perfect. LOVE the 1960's retro vibe! Staff was very welcoming. The room was so clean, you could smell the cleanliness when you walked in the door. We checked out the Burgundy Room Bar late night which was a nice addition to the property. Good vibes all the way around. Looking forward to returning and staying in one of the cottages! Well done to all who had a hand in the renovation of the Starlight as well as the on going day to day management!

Very cool retro motor inn. Clean, comfortable, and s great value. The bar snd music lounge upstairs was hopping with so very cool jazz and ruthim and blues the night we were there. The entire place was renovated with a 60s retro vibe. Amazing artwork in and around the coffee shop. Ditch the chains and their crappy breakfast by the interstate and stay here. Its not downtown and you need a car but you wont regret it.

Very clean and cozy, pool well maintained as well. We are planning on staying here again.

Our stay was amazing! Fun, friendly staff.... honestly nothing to complain about. We will be back!

This stay was my first using contactless check-in, which went well! The texts and email communications were timely and efficient; just make sure to call ahead your stay to provide Starlight with your contact info, if you booked via third party (Expedia, etc.) The Burgundy Lounge was great, with a live band on a weeknight!

We loved our stay at the Starlight! The room was beautiful, the lounges were fun and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back!

What a place! A little beat up on outside. The rooms were very nice. The vibe of the hotel was awesome. The bar with live music was outstanding. You felt like you were part of a scene. I suddenly feel hipper.

We absolutely loved this motel. The rooms were updated and nice. The shower was lovely and it was honestly one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The lounge upstairs is amazing!!! We were in town for a concert and enjoyed the band at the lounge and the vibe there just as much as the concert. We felt like we walked right into a speak easy from the 70’s. It was so cool. The coffee shop downstairs serves delicious coffee and the check in and out process is so simple. You don’t even have to talk to any of the staff to get checked in or out. The area the motel is located in isn’t the best but use your head and uber and it’s all good. I would recommend this place to everyone. It’s such a vibe.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Quiet from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Beds comfortable. Modern with retro style. Nothing.

This is a fantastic, completely remodeled old school motel. You will love it! Very comfy rooms, cool design, nice gadgets. The location is easy to get to by car, but not very conveniently located to downtown Charleston (7mi or so away), so just be aware.

That’s the main reason I took off a star. The main internet wasn’t working, called the staff and they answered promptly and gave a different network to connect to (good) BUT only our cell phones would connect to this other network. Our other devices (laptops, iPads, etc.) would not. So I had to use my phone network as a hotspot for the whole time I was there. Not great if you don’t have that alternative or that much data to spare. Other than that it was ok. The bar there doesn’t seem to open up until Wednesday so keep that in mind if you’re staying Monday and Tuesday.

Location was perfect since we were in town for a show at Wits End. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed the pool which looked very inviting.
