Starlight Motor Inn

Probably the best motel I've stayed! Very clean, comfortable, affordable, and good location. Loved the Burgandy Lounge on site as well as the coffee shop. The area around the motel is a little rundown but Starlight feels like its own little oasis. Very private, quiet, and relaxing spot to stay. We would definitely stay here again!

I absolutely loved my experience at the Starlight Motor Inn. The 60s theme gave it so much personality, and all of the little personalized touches made it feel incredibly welcoming. You can tell a lot of thought and care goes into every detail. The owner/manager (or whoever greeted us) was also so warm and friendly, which made the experience even better. It’s clear they’re passionate about what they do, and it really shows! I would most definitely stay here again!

This place is a throwback to the 1960’s. The pool and recreation area off of the pool is clean. The parking is convenient and our room was clean. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because 2 nights in a row, several men were hanging out on the walkway directly outside our room (11:15pm-1:00am). There seemed to be at least 2 complaints, as they were loud enough to hear their entire conversation, yelling, laughing, profanity, etc. Unfortunately, they continued this “after-party” two nights in a row and appeared oblivious to the noise they were creating.

Don’t understand all of the glowing reviews. Room was tiny, bathroom walls had white stains all over and toilet paper stuck to them, shower floor was level with the rest of the bathroom floor so the water just flowed across the whole bathroom, which was very unsafe. Neighborhood didn’t feel very safe. Really glad this was just a quick stay for us.

Clean, comfortable, cute retro vibes. Would absolutely return again in the future.

It’s pretty loud. The renovation is nice inside the rooms.

Very neat property; like a time capsule but with all the modern amenities in the rooms. Nice pool, very cool lounge and pool house. Not in the best part of town but close to everything and just a really fun place to stay. Staff are super helpful and very friendly.

The neighborhood was a bit sketchy, but the hotel was great. Once we were onsite, safety wasn't a concern - the hotel was very clean and secure and the staff was very helpful.

The rooms were much better than we expected and there was loads of parking

Absolutely great. Only think I could ask for is cups in the room. Other than that, awesome!

This hotel isn't in the most ideal location however it has so much personality! There is no front desk staff so everything is done via phone which isn't a problem. If noise bothers you, this isn't the place for you. We are music lovers so the live music was a bonus.

Clean room, great location and great price

Clean room. Cute decor/retro vibe. Nice in room keurig for morning coffee. Very interesting sleep machine with lots of choices. Very convenient parking! Only complaint was confusion (mostly on my part) about paying a100 incidentals deposit beforehand so it was like I didn’t have a reservation at first. All got resolved, so that was good. Neighborhood doesn’t feel walkable, but that was not a surprise. I wasn’t there long, but it was good for what I needed. I enjoyed the shower also!

Excellent experience staying at this hotel

The room was clean and comfortable, and the pool & lounge area made this place a 5-star experience! I will definitely stay here again next time I make it to Charleston.
