Kalani Oceanside Retreat

The grounds were very well manicured. The inside of the ulu was clean. Thank you for providing water. At first the geckos in the ulu scared the crap out of me. I wasn't aware I was going to be cohabitating with them, but understand they provide bug control. Wifi was pretty weak so I couldn't call out. I had to go and hover around the visitor center for service.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Puna. It is in the heart of the area and they regularly host events, which can be fun to attend. They have a cafe at the reception area with some healthy food options, mostly pre-made.

Great location It would be good if they sweep away dead insects day of arrival or before

The frogs can be noisy at night

Ocean views. Comfortable beds. Small refrigerator, no microwave or any way to cook anything. Quiet and relaxing.

Beautiful, comfortable, and well equipped hale. Wish we stayed longer than one night!

I wasn't able to experience anything I liked because everyth8ng was shut off or closed from the weather.would like to receive a reimbursement to compensate for everything listduring this trip..

Some doors and windows didn’t lock in our room

The cabin was comfortable with everything we needed. The sunrise from the rear of our cabin was amazing.

Secluded and peaceful No cooking area.

The lovely grounds and cabins. No kitchen and difficult to see at night. I understand the property is located in a dark sky area but other buildings on the property have ground lights that will illuminate enough for a person to get around. The cabins could have those same lights.

I love the property and the landscape. It's such a peaceful place to reset and be still. I will definitely be back! The location was not ideal with the fest and all the traffic driving in and out. But I still loved it. Just didn't sleep as good as I could.

Beautiful location looking out onto the ocean Half of the lights did not work. Always trying to figure out what light switches worked what lights and never figured out how to turn the lights on over the vanity in the bathroom. Also there was an event on the property. It would have been nice to know what was going on

It was perfect for us!

There was zero soap provided for the shower. And we NEVER received the access combination for the door despite emails saying it would be provided. We called 3 times, having 3 conversations about it. Unnecessarily stressful.

Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. This was very uncomfortable. Remote location (45 minutes from Hilo); a car is required. No cellphone reception. No nearby restaurants or shops. Towels were not very clean, and there is no AC

Peaceful setting. Loved the remote aspect. Hope it doesn't have many more huts built. Clean areas and very friendly and helpful staff.

This is an amazing location and off the beaten path. It was the perfect jungle/ocean experience.The room is amazing and you can feel the breeze and hear the birds while you relax. The only feedback I would give is to clean the mold from the shower and refresh the sheets. Sheets were clean, but smelled like they had been stored in Grandma’s musty closet too long.
