The historic property was beautifully landscaped and maintained from the front lawn and parking to the features in the back yard, including short shaded woodland trails. The interior of the historic home was lovely, clean, and welcoming with ample seating and window views, tea, coffee, etc., and snacks. The most comforting aspect of our stay was the hostess, sharing the history of the property and former owners, and offering a tour. The hostess and staff were sincere, kind and so helpful! I intend to stay at this place again!

Beautiful grounds and common areas. Room was plain which was fine but a/c was inefficient and the bed was just ok. K-cups are not coffee in my book, and we had better pastry elsewhere. The location was great for us, the town is cute. Everything was closed on Sunday so we headed to Chester which is close and adorable too. All the towns shut down early so plan accordingly even restaurants and ice cream places. Vermont is gorgeous and friendly. If you get a chance, do go.

Downside, we never saw another staff member accept when we checked in. No one was around anywhere. There was a dining room but it was closed. When we checked out it was a self checkout and I had no one to give my key to so I left it on the counter. Just a very strange experience

What a gem! This property was amazing, we stayed in two rooms both well equipped and perfectly styled. It felt like a boutique hotel. My teenagers all stayed in a room together with a trundle bed and two queens. The dresser had fun board games and cards and lots of books in the built in. My husband and I were across the hall in a smaller room that looked like it came out of a magazine. We were in the back portion, but had full access to the mansion - complete with music, water, coffee and pastries. It was stunning and had plenty of space for us to play cards together. My kids got a kick out of the fact that the house was the home of Helen Hartness Flanders - as Springfield was recognized as the official home of the Simpsons. The town looked cute, and we searched for places to eat and there were some good options. We ended up in the next town over at Outer Limits Brewery since we are always up for finding new beers.

I was very disappointed Very outdated

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There are no slip pads or bars in the bathroom. I slipped and fell in the tub and bruised my ribs. There's no staff around after 4pm, had to wait until the next morning to let someone know. The maintenance guy was really nice. The lady that came from the kitchen was rude and seemed more annoyed that I got hurt than anything.

Fantastic historic house in downtown Springfield, VT. A wonderful place to spend an evening or the weekend. Close to state parks, great restaurants, and kayaking. Wonderful place for a getaway.

The mansion is beautiful and the room (hotel side) was clean, but the property was not maintained. My reservation was for Friday thru Monday which you would think being a weekend there would be guests staying. I believe I was one of three. It felt deserted/abandoned. I saw one staff member my whole stay. There were no amenities, not even an ice machine. I checked out a day early because I was just not comfortable. It felt like a scene from a horror movie. Very disappointing. So much potential.

What a beautiful place! A quick move back in time to some really lovely spaces. The coffee and pastries were excellent and so appreciated, and the room and bed were delightful We really enjoyed our weekend away.

An excellent historical place to stay. Beautiful mansion and clean rooms. If I need to get back to Vermont, I will stay there again.

Beautiful property, wonderful pastries and electrolytes, great location.

Quaint stay in Springfield, VT in a 1904 built mansion which is a National Historic Landmark. Wonderful room in the attached hotel adjacent to the mansion. The rooms were beautiful and the mansion itself had a coffee & drink station in a beautiful reading room complete with grand piano, 1920s-era music, and a library. The property is quiet but close to the downtown. It's a 12 minute walk to the downtown area. The Copper Fox is a must try restaurant. The atmosphere and experience can't be beat. My wife and I will be returning in the future.

No staff on duty, ghost town- no one to ask questions too, envelopes taped to door with key, no refrigerator in room, breakfast was just muffins

    Beautiful location

Continental breakfast was as advertised and and available at early hours so we could get our day going. Email was thorough about arrival. Helpful, since arrival was automated through ipads. Building is gorgeous, and the room was well appointed with multiple shelves to allow travelers to keep track of sundry items. We were in the far back of the addition, which was fine. It would have been helpful in the information provided to tell us to park in back and use the rear entry. Also to tell us more about how to access breakfast. We heard about both only because we ran into the site manager by chance.

Room 24's bed had the DREADED "constantly roll into the middle of the mattress" SWALE in it, our friends said, so maybe they could replace that. The motel connects to the mansion & your are kindly told you can come, "check it out at night & in the morning there is continental breakfast & coffee" here. I actually wish they opened the beautiful bar on the weekend so we could have sat there & had a drink instead of going back to the Motel 6. Anyway, it was fine, but not exactly what we expected.

Nice place but sometimes tv doesn’t work and we saw some hair on bed.

However, Tyler the inn keeper was fabulous. Took my daughter on an under ground tour of the museum, laboratory & telescope. Interesting history on the Hartness House. We would stay again, picking a room in the main mansion.
