Team Member Spotlight: Anoop Kumar, Vice President of Business Operations
Here at Engine, we believe a company is only as extraordinary as its people. We’ve dedicated ourselves to improving the lives of business travelers but want to show off the people who help make that happen. On a regular basis, we’ll be doing a Q&A with one of our amazing team members to showcase the folks behind the scenes of Engine.
Anoop joined us in 2020 as a Vice President of Business Operations. His passion, dedication, and energy are what makes him an incredible addition to our team. So, let’s get to know Anoop!
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, but I’ve spent more than half of my life now either in the East Coast (NYC, Philly, DC, Boston) and abroad.
Do you have a nickname at work?
Not specifically, though I sometimes go by ‘AK’.
What’s your favorite part about your team?
I don’t really have a specific team right now, but I guess that means everyone’s on my team 😊
What’s your spirit animal and why?
Don’t have a great answer for this either… but we’re in Broncos country, so I’ll go with that.
What do you love about working for Engine?
I’m inspired by how the company has been able to pivot during this crazy pandemic and not only stay afloat but continue to thrive, and there’s still immense opportunity ahead waiting to be unlocked.
What do you think is unique about working at Engine?
The competitive nature of the team – everyone deeply cares about winning (as a company) and being the best here!
What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
Love playing and watching sports – basically all of them. Except baseball… no one likes baseball. I also enjoy traveling internationally, stand-up comedy, electronic music, and poker.
Let’s hear it for your humble brag!
I’m basically unstoppable at any type of “bar game” – Be prepared to lose if you challenge me!
What’s your favorite HE value?
Bias for Action. The fastest way to grow is by moving quickly and tweaking things along the way, course-correcting when necessary. Having an implicit bias for action is critical in accomplishing that.
What’s your favorite thing about living in New York City?
It’s the best city in the world (or at least the US!). I love the incredible energy of the City and diversity that it offers across the board including the people (ethnicity, language, culture), food, industry, and experiences that are unique to NYC.
