My Place Hotel - Altoona/Des Moines, IA

My room was clean and quiet. The air conditioner worked great on a hot day. The staff were very nice, quick and efficient. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. The fridge wasn’t working in our room and the drawers in the kitchen kept opening by themselves. :) Everything else was great! We would definitely stay here again.

Highly recommend this hotel. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. I was very impressed all the way around and I rarely fill out reviews. I felt this one was worthy.

Upon entry into the building, it smelled amazing! That is always a plus in my book. When we got to the desk, Shanda was amazing helping us get our rooms situated. She was so polite and easy to talk to. We get to our room and it was amazing as well. A full fridge. A stove top as well as alot of cabinet space. The beds were amazingly comfortable. It felt like I was in a cloud the 3 nights we were there. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at this hotel for its proximity to Prairie Meadows racetrack. The staff in the hotel were extremely friendly & helpful, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The room was spotless and the bed was very very comfortable. I was here for 3 days & and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

The young petite lady at 3am on Friday, July 10th was very helpful and sweet. It was 3am - how was she awake and nice? I couldn’t find anyone when I needed to touch base to additional times (upon checking out we did speak with a nice blond woman 9am on 7/13). The bed frame was missing the protector on the metal of the bed and I wrecked my shin twice on it. Then our fire alarm went off at 230am 7/13 - no other rooms. Just us. 3 minutes blaring. Room 301 was woken up by me not knowing what to do - nice guy BTW. Would I stay there and feel safe - yes. Shower was great. Sheets clean. Just mad at the dang bed frame and alarm.

The room was spacious and clean. I liked the kitchen, friendly staff and conveniently located next the Casino & horse track, shopping and many restaurants nearby and movie theater. Nice hotel for a good price.

Everything you need. It’s nice to have a full size refrigerator. Room was large. Bathroom small. I wish it offered breakfast.

Nothing to complain about. Room, clean. Area, quiet. Amusement, close by.

Perfect location for our event. Clean enough rooms and enjoy the extra space in the room.

While the place isn't fancy, it did have what we needed. The front desk people answered questions and were very friendly. One even got me a cup of ice. There isnt an ice machine, but the fridge in the room makes it(if you remember to turn it on). Short walk to the casino and Adventureland. Plenty of eating choices around it too. Parking lot had plenty of room too!

My place is designed to be an extended stay hotel but for an overnight they are excellent for the price. I originally thought that they had a free breakfast so that was a bit disappointing though they have breakfast items for purchase. If staying for an extended stay I would be concerned that, though they have places in each room for cooking, the rooms have no utensils, plates or glasses.

had to get from the front desk . The toilet barely flushed. Overall, the price was cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. I will never stay here again.
