My Place Hotel - Altoona/Des Moines, IA

Nothing to complain about. Room, clean. Area, quiet. Amusement, close by.

Perfect location for our event. Clean enough rooms and enjoy the extra space in the room.

While the place isn't fancy, it did have what we needed. The front desk people answered questions and were very friendly. One even got me a cup of ice. There isnt an ice machine, but the fridge in the room makes it(if you remember to turn it on). Short walk to the casino and Adventureland. Plenty of eating choices around it too. Parking lot had plenty of room too!

My place is designed to be an extended stay hotel but for an overnight they are excellent for the price. I originally thought that they had a free breakfast so that was a bit disappointing though they have breakfast items for purchase. If staying for an extended stay I would be concerned that, though they have places in each room for cooking, the rooms have no utensils, plates or glasses.

had to get from the front desk . The toilet barely flushed. Overall, the price was cheap, but I guess you get what you pay for. I will never stay here again.

Good for a short or long stay. Room had a kitchen area no pots or pans or such so bring your own for a long stay. No breakfast in hotel but plenty of nearby options.

Clean, calm, and peaceful, I was worry free the whole stay. Grateful for the kitchen and freezer to cook and store food

When it rained the window leaked into the room A LOT. In the 7 days we were there they never once cleaned our room. To their credit, when I complained they agreed to give us one free day. The staff was friendly but their follow through in room cleaning was non existent.

Great value for the cost per night. Have an annual event that we attend every June across the street and this was our 4th time staying at this hotel.

They had told me when i booked the rooms they would get us into an adjoining room or at least on same floor but when we got there all they had was 2 rooms on first floor where there had been a leak and fans where strung through the hallway. Both rooms were dirty, the one room bathroom sink didnt work, toilet seat was only attached on one side. We had repeatedly had to ask for housekeeping that we never got and my daughter had to empty her own trash from their room because housekeeping never came. We had to keep asking for towels they werent refilled and the refrigerator in one room wasnt working for 2 days we had to flip the breaker to get it on. Will never stay there again!

There was a bit of odor in the room from the prior occupant’s cooking, but overall an excellent room and value.
