Super 8 by Wyndham Amarillo Central TX

Positive reviews on Expedia will make you question the validity and trustworthiness of reviews. This place was labeled as "family friendly" and it is right next to an adult lingerie shop complete with the homeless encampment on the side. There is a huge billboard out front (not the hotel's billboard) advertising an adult sex toy shop in the area. The area looks sketchy. You would be better to go 2 miles down the road. The room was dated, the mini fridge DID NOT work. I told the guy at the front desk and he shrugged his shoulders. There is a vacant and boarded up building next door. The "secured" door on the side is broke, so anyone can walk in at any time. The hotel has that musty old hotel smell. When I checked in, I noticed that there is seating for about 12 people in the breakfast area. The parking lot was packed and I asked if there was enough room for guests at breakfast and the clerk said it wasn't an issue because "most people don't eat here." Breakfast is waffles shaped like Texas (if you feel like messing w the waffle iron), cold cereal, coffee, yogurt and bread. For the same price you could get a better location with an eggs and sausage breakfast. I will say that the AC in the room worked wonderfully. If you are a single guy just looking for a place to crash and then move on, this place is a bit of a dive, but would work. If you are a family w kids, you would do better to move down the road.

Great value and clean Parking is very tight and it can be hard to find entrance to hotel in the dark.

Bad location-homeless population next to unsecured guest parking. Deteriorating and empty buildings surrounding location. See above- room had off-putting odor. Bathroom fixtures were dated-at best-stains in toilet/shower would make a person question cleanliness. Staff-registration agent taking personal cell calls while registering guest didn’t feel attentive or welcoming. Checkout staff could barely say a genuine ‘thank you’ and did not ask ‘how was your stay’.

It's an older hotel, had a handicap room, the carpet seemed a little threadbare and the toilet rocked, seemed clean. Did not stay for breakfast.

Nothing. The whole place smelled like urine. The carpet was dirty and wet. The rooms stunk. The parking lot was not secure. It was so awful that we just left.

Location Needs maintenance in bathroom & breakfast area

Air condition worked well. Bathroom was clean. Location, breakfast wasn’t that great. Hotel looked old and worn out.

The location is great if you are continuing on to the East or West. The room was quiet enough. The breakfast was okay but the breakfast was served in the lobby next to the entrance. The bed was not very comfortable. No elevators to the 2nd floor.

It smelled bad and I left my jacket with a Canadian logo on it and it got stolen by staff I imagine the breakfast was nasty old cereal the juice was not working and like I said their is a Oder Everything pretty much but it’s a super 8 so expect it to be a quick stay

NO hot water at hotel with no notification before arrival. Left scrambling to cancel booking and find new booking. Office staff not helpful with process.
