The Big Texan Motel

The pool was closed by the Health Dept. The sign looked like it had been there for a while, so who knows how long the pool has been closed. There was no mention of the pool being closed on the website, in any of the multiple emails I received from the property, and no mention when I talked with the staff member at the check-in desk. I had 2 grandchildren that had been in a car for hours before checking in and were excited about getting to go swimming. I also requested a first floor room as I am in my late 60s and climbing stairs with luggage is next to impossible. I was told they never saw my request (amazing that they saw the request for the date I had stayed a few days earlier & both reservations were made at the exact same time).

We saw the lumpy mattress, pushed on them with our hands and started laughing and walked right out and went elsewhere

The beds were uncomfortable; one was hard with springs making noise with every movement and the other had a large uncomfortable impression on one side. I didn’t care for the writing all over the walls. Check in was easy and the shower pressure was great.

The chicken staff was amazing and helped me out when I had misunderstood an option for extra purchase

Definitely an old rte 66 feel, old but clean!

The room was comfortable and clean but the air conditioner was very loud & didn't work very well. The room wasn't too sound proof either. Lots of road noise being right off the interstate but also from people parked right outside our door. I appreciated the contactless check-in. If you're planning to eat in the steakhouse, I'd make a reservation or plan on waiting, for quite some time.

Great stay, fun atmosphere. We were originally put it a suite with a kitchenette, but only one bed. We needed too. It was unfortunate because that looked like a great room for a couple. But moving was easy and the staff was helpful and the other room was nice.

The room itself was nicely decorated and well maintained. The coffee in the room was also a nice bonus. The main issues were with the bathroom and noise—not from outside, but from the room above. The shower drained very slowly, and when the guests upstairs used their shower, water would come up through my shower drain. The sound insulation was also very poor, and I could hear almost everything happening in the room above. For a room that cost about $203 per night, I expected these issues not to be present. Overall, the room looked nice and the staff was helpful, but the plumbing and noise issues took away from the experience.

A must stop on our way out of Texas! Excellent Service! The Staff at all of the Big Texan locations are amazing! They are also very pet friendly.

Fun place, but old.

The beds are horrible. The room I stayed in has 2 electrical shorts and they just put signs up not to use it.

10/10. We were on a road trip and stayed at multiple hotels, motels, and resorts. Somehow this was the cleanest, yet most affordable, room we stayed in the whole trip with zero issues. The room was so cute and so clean! The front desk, lady Dee was charming and polite. Not to mention, exceedingly helpful. The beds were extra comfortable in the property was very quiet. I would definitely stay here again and hoping to check out the Texas shaped pool next time we drive-through.
