As a disabled veteran, I really appreciated the spacious walk-in bathroom. First issue was being rudely questioned as to why I was there-not welcome, how can I help you... I informed the hotel ahead of time that my husband and I would be a late check-in and would arrive around midnight. Upon arrival, the door to the check-in office was locked. After explaining that I had a reservation, I was buzzed in. There was no human inside, only a kiosk with a woman with an angry disposition on the screen. I did not know if she was human or an AI at first-as there was no indication on Booking.com that there was no staff on site. Given the set up, it was difficult to hear her, she was impersonal and asked me to place my ID on the kiosk, then told me I had to pay a $150 deposit. I told her that my room was already paid for in full and no where on the Booking.com site in their hotel's policy details or my confirmation, that a $150 deposit was expected. She basically said that's the policy and's I could talk to someone tomorrow when they come into the office. She said the deposit was fully refundable. I asked her if they were simply placing a hold or charging this fee to my card? She said charging it and said I needed to enter my PIN number, insisting it was hotel policy. I told her that I am not paying $150 deposit that I wasn't informed about and that any fees should have been transparently spelled out on the site. I told I was calling Booking.com and she did not care. I called and explained the situation to the representative. He was very professional, checked the site and confirmation receipt and confirmed that there was no mention of the fee in their policy details. He called the hotel and spoke with the representative and told me it should be fine to check in. He apologized for the inconvenience. The lady in the kiosk checked me in without the deposit and she did apologize for the inconvenience but I was standing in that office for nearly 30 minutes trying to resolve something that shouldn't even be an issue.

Location Towels were stained and old. Hair dryer was dirty and sticky.

clean Walls had repair marks unpainted. Toilet seat was loose. Shower handle came off in my hand. Breakfast was very limited without place to sit.

beds and pillows were fine. shower was updated wall air conditioner was loud and rattly room was small for 2 queen beds desk chair too big towels were gray and had holes

Walking distance to the Greek Theatre on the Cal Berkeley campus. We had concert tickets and wanted something close. The bathroom was clean. Not a great part of town. Wasn’t really kept up very well. Chips in the paint and black dirt and scuff marks on the walls and doors. Homeless ( I assume) yelling outside in middle of the night.

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Parking was easy. The hotel is an easy walk to local restaurants and markets. All in all a good experience for the cost, solid value. The room was a little small and the pressure from the tap at the sink wasn't great, but the shower was good. Noise from the outside was prominent at times
