An Old Lady from the gilded age.

Only drawback was outside pool had algae on the sides and water felt slimy and was a weird color. Icemaker was not working on the 2nd floor and had been out of commission ALL summer.

I brought that up this past weekend and the person at the front desk said she is going to do it (waiter from Stickneys told us about that!) and she never did!

Elegant building with historical significance, very enjoyable environment, easy access to Mt Washington and other outdoor sites.

HORRIFIED to see rats running out from the hotel near the guest parking. We turned around and went home. The staff person that looked to be on break laughed and said the rats were on coffee break. With a small child intow, we decided to not stay there and I was left on hold for 15+ minutes so the person who answered the phone could get a manager. I gave up......never again and they charged me for two nights even though I never checked in due to this public health issue.

We booked a two night stay at the Mount Washington Hotel to celebrate our one year anniversary, and having never stayed there before, I was hoping for a relaxing and memorable experience. The hotel delivered in many ways. Our room offered a beautiful view of the Presidential Range, and our check in was one of the most professional and pleasant I’ve ever had at a high end resort. Shawn at the front desk set the tone immediately. As our bags were being delivered to our room, he walked us through the amenities and events with genuine enthusiasm. After learning we were celebrating our anniversary, and hearing my offhand comment about taking the Gondola, he surprised us with two complimentary passes and two drink vouchers. It was an unexpected and thoughtful gesture that made us feel truly welcomed. The next morning, I joined the hotel tour and once again saw Shawn’s passion for the property as he shared an engaging history of the Stickneys and the hotel. We dined at Stickney’s Steakhouse on our first night and the 1902 Main Dining Room on our anniversary. Both meals were delicious, with menus full of appealing options. I would have been happy with nearly any entrée. If I were to suggest one improvement, it would be the placement of server stations directly beside several dining tables. In such a grand and historic room, it was distracting to overhear staff conversations about tables or challenges they were experiencing. Those discussions are best kept out of the dining area. A second observation relates to the disturbances caused by minors during our dinner in the 1902 room. While I fully appreciate that this is a family friendly resort, children running around the dining room unmonitored detracts from the otherwise elegant atmosphere. As a parent of two now adult children, I would have opted for room service or one of the kid friendly venues when my children were younger rather than subject them to a formal dinner they likely wouldn’t enjoy. This is not a criticism of the hotel itself, but perhaps expectations could be more clearly set for patrons.

This was our second trip to the Mt. Washington and it exceeded out expectations. The hotel was tired on our last trip but the recent renovations were well done. We stayed in the Presidential wing this time and our room was spacious and well appointed. The only place we felt service was slightly lacking was by the pool. Meals were excellent.

The location and the view, the overall luxurious atmosphere, the staff, the amazing historical context. The pool felt a little old and not that inviting.The position of the bed and the roll out sofa made the room feel small and less aesthetic.

The decor and beds were comfortable The indoor pool needs renovation.

Things that could/should have been better for the exorbitant August nightly price was: better vacuuming in the rooms (found dried up contact lenses on the floor), better room number signage (rooms 132-135 do not exist on their floor signs), faster bellman service (we beat him to the room after parking and still waited 15 mins), better maintainence of both indoor/outdoor pool - water was not clear, there were zero towels our first day in either space, the chairs were not routinely cleaned/reset, outdoor hottub would've been nice for adults. Very loud minisplit. Outdoor patio cushions had stains, but at least dry. Was also misled on the "free parking". I can't believe they charge overnight guests for self parking when there is ample space and we aren't in the city. Maybe these are nitpicking, but again for the price (double a nice Boston hotel), I wouldn't have expected any of this.

Helpful & friendly staff throughout the historic property. Activities are abundant from golf to hiking to children’s games. The unique setting in the White mountains is stunning.
