Holiday Inn Express Milwaukee North Brown Deer/Mequon by IHG

Lots of tree maintenance people were staying at the place so the parking for other clients was slim. Big trucks were parked parallel to the sidewalks thus using sometimes 4-5 spaces per truck. I had to park my rental car in tight spots between two big trucks and it was hard for me to get out of my car due to it being so close to the rental car. Someone was mowing the grass about 7:30 or 8:00am

Elevator was broke. I was on third floor

Hotel was exactly what we needed for an out of town wedding overnight. Clean, well kept and everyone was friendly.

Sticky room carpet, noisy bathroom fan, window shades that don’t go all the way down to cover the window. The room also had an odor. I found the source the next day, 3 empty beer cans behind the refrigerator. At least the room had a good view of the goodwill store next door.

Elevators are REALLY slow, I had to take the stairs to the third floor most of the time.

Walking distance to the YMCA. Good breakfast

Staff were helpful and friendly. Sylvester greeted us with a smile and was helpful in connecting us with a manager when we had an issue with the bed. Breakfast was always stocked and staff were keeping things clean and wiped up. I was really disappointed with my bed. The bed had a severe sag. I’m not particularly heavy. 185lbs but the bed seemed worn. I slept poorly the entire stay of 5 nights. The manager attempted to help with another room but the bed in that room appeared to have the same sag to it. They could not switch any other rooms around apparently even though it was early in the morning on a Thursday. She only had one available The hotel didn’t appear to be even near fully booked. I have stayed at many other brand name hotels in this price range and have rarely had this issue. We were booked for 5nights. Seems like something else could have been arranged. My wife and I flipped the bed and I took sleep aids to help the remaining 4 nights but I was lacking energy as a result my entire visit. The hotel is in a quiet location which was nice. Surrounding services include a Culver’s and a grocery store. Not much else for restaurants though close by. I won’t be staying here when I come to the Mke area again.

What I didn’t appreciate was the house keeping beating on your door a hour before check out time they need to know better I laid back down for a second and I checked out right when it was time for me to but she had my heart racing how loud she beat on the door I called to the receptionist asking her like isn’t check out time 12 why is the lady beating on the door at 11 pissed me off so bad don’t think I’m going back

This property needs plenty of TLC. I was surprised at the condition of many things starting with the elevator. I can’t say that it was the neatness or cleanliness that am accustomed to seeing in this brand hotel. It was however a comfortable sleep at best. We did double check on the check out time and were reassured we had the time correct. In both of the rooms we rented we were bothered not once but twice by housekeeping. That’s really aggravating since we planned accordingly. In addition to that the staff is not knowledgeable and could use more of acustomer centric approach with the delivery of information and the entire check in process. It’s sad to see this hotel going in this direction. I remember staying at this location least 4-5 times over the last 20+ years. This experience tells me it is not going to be around much longer, but I hope I wrong. Maybe improvements will come with the new developments in the area.
