Holiday Inn Express Suites Charleston by IHG

Location was perfect, right off the highway with lots of walkable eating places and big box stores. Longhorn was on one side and Texas Roadhouse on the other. Personnel was very friendly and parking was easy. Breakfast was good and included sausage and eggs. AC worked well but the sheets were microfiber and therefore so hot that my husband and I woke several times all night. The bathroom could use some updating but shower head was strong.

I don’t know I missed it because of all the noise . I had my familywith me . I had two rooms .One room smell like smoke . The room that replaced it had a water leak at the front door and it was very noisy. The second room was a double bed, one of the beds was not made like someone had just got out of it . The front desk person gave us another room and one of those beds had a big dip in the mattress. People should be honest in these reviews.

I wasnt happy about it but they need to do a better job about cleaning and not sit on or use the bed..I dont know what to think. I was just too tired to complain not sure Ill stay thrre again though. Thats just not right.

The property location was quite literally the only thing okay about this stay. I chose this location because it had such high ranking reviews. I would like to know who is leaving the reviews for this property because the experience we had was nowhere near a high 8-9 ranking. When we got to our room, the smell of mildew and musty wet dog hit me in the face. The smell of room almost made me gag. The AC was hanging on to every inch of life it had left in it. It wasn’t producing nearly enough cool air to be comfortable. The room was so humid and DAMP. Our suitcases, clothes, electronics, shoes, skin, basically everything in the room was WET by morning. The doors to the room and bathroom scraped the floors. You couldn’t open or shut either door without forcefully pushing it open with your entire body. Once it was stuck open, it wasn’t moving until you aggressively pulled on them. The beds were actually pretty awful. Extremely worn down and I cringe thinking about how dirty they were. The carpet in the room was disgusting. It probably contributed to the smell of the entire room but worth mentioning….just wet, damp, smelly carpet. The “free breakfast” was a joke. I travel often and have come to realize that you shouldn’t expect too much at some establishments when it comes to the free breakfasts, however; this place was disgusting. I didn’t try the food because it looked so unappealing. I did note that while some guests were standing in line trying to get some morning coffee, a staff member from the front desk decided she too needed coffee at that moment and guests had to wait in line for her to get her coffee. I was actually surprised to see her not care or notice that guests were waiting for her to make her coffee with empty cups in their hands. I do not think what we paid for the room was remotely close to a fair price. I was severely misguided when using the reviews as a tool to decide where we should stay while passing through. We won’t be back to this location. The pictures posted online (as most hotels use) do not reflect reality at all.

So where to start.. sheets where dirty in room 302, went to take a shower and there where 2 used washcloths hanging on shower curtain only visible from shower side. Everything else was ok. Noticed dirty deva at first but didn’t care, then after finding dirty wash clothes in shower I pulled sheets back and they were also dirty.. and I mean footprint big and brown blotches dirty. For 170$ I coulda got a better room downtown for sure

Rooms were nice, but beds were terrible, and continental breakfast was less than impressive at all.

Breakfast was good Location was good.pl Place just needs to be cleaner. Found food crumbs on the floor in the room. Hallways and elevator areas needed to be cleaned better.

Quiet, safe, multiple nearby restaurants, clean. We liked everything

We had to return to the front desk the first two days to get out keys reactivated. Our room was not cleaned for 2 out of the 3 days we were there. We had to ask for clean linens. Finally, on the last day when we returned and the room had not been cleaned again, they lady at the front desk got housekeeping to come promptly. They picked up most of the linens, emptied the trash, remade the bed with the same sheets. The floor had not been attended to in some time because the floor was filthy. It was swept but had not been mopped in ages. My husbands white socks looked like he had been walking outside all day. Also, the room and floor was humid. The floor actually had moisture on it and we had to keep a towel by the bed to dry our feet before getting into the bed.

Rooms were dirty. There was mold on the shower curtain and walls. Do not recommend this hotel. It’s definitely not up to holiday inn standards.

It's an older hotel with a modest facelift. It was as expected based on previous reviews. Room smelled strong of air freshener and was humid (we switched rooms and it was the same), the hallway was around 80°, and the elevator was sketchy. The folks at the desk were really friendly and accommodating, and gave us a late checkout. Staff were great. The quality didn't seem to line up with the cost ($180).

Hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel is located in a favorable area that’s close to a lot of restaurant options. Rooms were clean and comfortable. This is a good option for the price.

The way people parked in the parking lot taking up 2-3 parking spots . They parked sideways especially late in the evening . I also had to get another room because the room I was in smelled awful and crumbs were in the floor and brown stuff stained on the chair
