The Principal Hotel

We did not find the staff to be particularly friendly or helpful, though. The girl at check in seemed a little annoyed at having to deal with us, and didn’t give any information -just gave us the keys. The next morning I came down looking for water. There’s a small grab and grow breakfast of fruit and cereal bars which was really nice. But when I was looking for something, the woman at the desk was talking loudly on a personal cell phone call and didn’t bother to acknowledge me at all. After five minutes, I just gave up. We’d definitely stay here again. We loved the concept and the big clean rooms! Just wish there wasn’t a cleaner smell or an unprofessional staff.

The overall theme of the hotel is unique. Based on the property being a former school, all the little details are spot on. Our particular room had a small kitchenette. The whole establishment was very clean, room was spacious, a very comfortable bed and a great shower. We loved it!

As a former Catholic and going to Catholic grade school and high schools I loved the naming of everything involved the repurposing of lockers in the hallways and the pews probably from the church in the hallways for you to sit down or sit your things on. Just the name Graphite for the restaurant, the Do Not Disturb door sign was Class in Session. The Cafe on the Abbey was great food and catering. I highly recommed the Principal Hotel for anyone visiting the St Louis area and wants a place to enjoy without the rush!

The room was large with gorgeous big windows and was very quiet. The room and bathroom were clean with plenty of towels and extra blankets and pillows. The beds were very comfortable and clean as well. I have already recommended the hotel to other travelers!

There was a musty smell in the hall on the second floor.

The Principal has become our favorite hotel we stay at! Clean- really nice rooms! anything you could want for food or drink within walking distance- and the on-site restaraunt -Graphite is awesome if you are lookig for fine dining plus they give you a discount when staying! The town of Columbia is great!

Very cool property that resembles a school. Room and bathroom was large and updated!

Staff was rude and misinformed tried telling me my reservation was only for one night I had to correct them and they didn't even apologize. They don't offer breakfast or have regular cable tv in the rooms. It was nice and quiet but for the amount they charge you would think you would be treated like royalty here and that isn't the case

Very nice

We loved the Catholic Grade School theme! The people were helpful and friendly. I left medication in the room and they retrieved it for me without a problem. The attached restaurant was great! The single thing I had wished the room had was a full-length mirror. We were attending a wedding and wanted the full view.
