This hotel will make you feel like you are in a horror movie. I arrived late at night and no one was there... only rooms and rooms filled with construction equipment. You have to walk through it all to find the front desk. All amenities (except breakfast) was shut down. Expedia did not alert me to these changes when I booked, and I feel that I deserve a complete refund.

The hotel was under a major renovation. We were unaware. We were the only people we saw at the hotel besides the check in staff. We walked into a demolished hotel basically. This hotel needs to close under the renovations are complete. Very unclean and unwelcoming.

The staff was very kind. However, the Property is under construction and smells like mold and mildew. The breakfast area is next to the construction zone. The lobby is had mattresses lined up and construction crews were all over. This place should be closed.

The room was very clean. A lot of renovations going on so it was a bit confusing but I'm sure it will be great when finished.

The mattress is needed changing they were very lumpy and not as comfortable as I recall during my first day about a year ago. The pillows also need to be replaced with ones that are a little more firmer as these were incredibly uncomfortable and have to be adjusted often.

The amount of renovations happening were grossly underestimated. The lobby was torn apart with open ceilings, wires hanging down, mattresses stacked up etc. No bar, no gym, no restaurant. Workers started banging at 6:40am the first morning. Complaints were made to staff who couldn’t do anything til the manager arrived at 8am. Manager was nice, but no compensation was made. Workers started later the next day.

Registration was all the way to the back of the hotel through a parking ramp. No signage out front to tell people to pull into the ramp. No direct access to the hotel from the parking garage.

This is not safe for customers. It is full blown construction site. The elevator was full of what looked like smoke, but the construction crew who rode the elevator with me tried to relieve my concerns by informing me that it was “just drywall dust”. The bathtub was covered in literal mud. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Would prefer to sleep literally anywhere else.

We paid for a suite and got put in a regular room that was questionable. We didn’t want to touch the couch that was in there. Breakfast was ok. I think it will be nice when they complete the renovation.

They are under construction, but everyone was nice and helpful. I can’t wait to see what it is going to look like. Room was nice.

It’s hard to rate these categories due to the renovations going on at the hotel. It’s a ghost town with construction going on everywhere downstairs. Honestly, coming in from the parking garage at night was terrifying. First, because the parking garage was creepy & you enter the hotel through the public transport breezeway, and second because you walk into a construction site. I did fear for my safety until I made it to the elevators. There’s no staff in eyesight as the “front desk” is off to the side. My room was dated, but clean & comfortable mostly (bathroom was not in great shape) and the a/c didn’t want to work. The fridge made a piercing high pitched sound so I unplugged it. Water pressure was good and bed comfy. Loved the selection of pillows. I will give it a shot once construction is done, but do not recommend going until then. Parking would prohibit me from going alone as a female, but would come back with my husband.

Hotel is under major construction project

The property was under almost complete renovation with only two floors of rooms open and the entire entry level was under construction. However, there was no mention of this on the site description. After booking, I received a message stating that the pool, restaurant, and exercise areas were close for renovations, but not essentially the whole building. The available room we were given was not in acceptable condition, certainly far from "Very Good" as indicated by the rating on Expedia. It would be better to close the hotel under renovations are complete in this case and avoid disappointed customers. However, we were ultimately able to get a full refund from Expedia after a couple of attempts. I am sure it will be nice once the construction and renovations are completed though.

We spent one night while traveling. Unbeknownst to us, the hotel was under construction. After a long day on the road we'd hoped to sleep in but pounding and power equipment began at 7:15AM.

Parking was close by. Renovations were being made so it was a little chaotic, but everything was good

Great overall experience. Check-in was smooth, and the staff made us feel right at home. The room was exceptionally clean, and having easy, hassle-free parking was a huge plus. Highly recommend!

This property is under construction, which is desperately needed. The construction is not an issue but the rooms are in horrible condition, the carpet was so dirty and stained we were afraid to take our shoes off! The wall mounted air conditioner unit is so old it makes a horrible grinding noise non stop. The only plus to this property is it is walking distance to historic downtown Frankfort. Hopefully once the entire hotel is renovated it will be a nice place to stay.

Knew it was under renovation but did not expect to walk into a lobby full of mattresses. When booked, was unaware pool was not available. Seems like this should be told ahead of booking. Finally, no hot water for showering.

You can remodel a building, but you can’t renovate laziness. This place is filthy, the rooms smell like neglect, and the cigarette-infused pillows are a special kind of hospitality. At this point, the “free breakfast” feels less like a perk and more like a dare. I’m half expecting it to be leftovers from last week. Save yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.

We have stayed at the Capital Plaza Hotel many times on our way to the Bourbon Trail. The staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is older and dated which is part of its charm and appeal to us. We were unaware when we booked through Expedia that the hotel was undergoing major renovations. This was not a problem for us for the most part and we were able to make it work. However we were unable to use the hotels bar area because it was closed due to the dust from the construction. We also had no hot water in the shower for the two days we were there. We had a large group and had 6 rooms reserved for a two night stay. unfortunately two of the couples just couldn’t make it work with the construction and had to get other accommodations nearby. When we checked out I was hoping to get a bit of a discount due to these circumstances but was told I had to go through Expedia since I booked through them. I would definitely consider staying there again after the renovation process is complete but I am disappointed that I was unaware prior to and I feel like I should have gotten a discount due to these circumstances hot water shortage.
