Hanover Inn Dartmouth

Beautiful, well maintained historic hotel. Turn down service. They sent someone to make up the pullout in our room. This spot is one of the only nice hotels in the area, far surpasses the Marriott’s and Hilton’s on the highway, and a certain lakeside resort nearby that charges double should be skipped at all costs.

What a beautiful hotel in such a beautiful town. Great location right across the street from Dartmouth University. Clean hotel with clean rooms. Extremely friendly staff. Overall a great experience.

Frank at the front desk was extremely friendly and went out of his way to help. He even gave us a little tour of the place. Also Andrew was very friendly and helped us with our bags.

The room should be slightly larger or have one bed rather than two. It always felt like you had to navigate to get around.

It was nice

when we arrived at our room after dinner the A/C didn't seem to be working and the TV was not getting any signal. we called the front desk. They sent a gentleman to assess the situation. he said he would come back to fix the problem. He came back with a portable fan! We said no way - and forget about it. We finally got it working. He also said he was the new "houseman" and had no ide how to fix the TV. We said send in the engineer. He left and came back shortly and said there was no engineer on site and it would take at least 30 minutes to get him there. We said forget bit but have the manager call us. The front desk called (apparently there was no manager available?) and reiterated it would take time. But offered no solution or apology. We specifically asked that the manage call us in the morning - the desk person said they would leave a note. No call. at checkout the desk person never asked "how was your stay". I offered the story. He asked do you want to speak to the manager. I said sure. Hre came out, listened to the saga and responded; "no houseman on duty, huh? I'll look into it." This was not a 4 or 5 star experience certainly for what we were charged. Most disturbing was the seemingly indifferent response to addressing the problem coupled with no apologies. Some times it's the little things that make all the difference. For what it's worth.

Perfectly

Great location! Dartmouth is directly across the street, and the hotel is walkable to everything in Hanover. Lovely staff, spacious, clean, quiet rooms. The only downside is parking, which is all valet. But if you plan ahead (ie: Take everything you need out of your car when you arrive and remember to ask for your car at least 10-15 minutes before you need to leave), it works great. They even kindly parked our car right out front the night before our (very early) departure so that it was ready to go when we came downstairs.
