The Colonial Inn, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Comfy bed! Great shower! Amazing food in the restaurant- don’t hesitate to have dinner there! SO good. The room was a little bright from the hallway light shining in and a bit noisy but not bad. I always travel with earplugs and a face mask so it didn’t bother me I just like the let others know in case you’re a light sleeper. It’s a cute place, the bed being comfy and the shower being great is the biggest thing for me.

Clean, comfortable and beautifully updated room. Staff pleasant and helpful. Short walk to downtown Hillsborough with its' shops and restaurants.

amazing

Our room had a terrible mildew odor (on the 1st floor of the annex) and there was an overflowing trash can just outside our room. Very disappointing as we had previously had nice stays at the inn.

Staff was friendly and very professional.

The property is very nice. Parking can sometimes be a challenge as it is on the street, but it is manageable. The rooms are very nice and clean. Bed is comfortable. We did not eat at the restaurant so I have no information on it but the smells coming from the restaurant were very good. The restaurant stayed busy.

:)

Great place to stay for a short getaway. The room was very clean, a good shower, and a very comfortable bed. Negatives are they don’t serve breakfast, the only parking is on the street, and no mini refrigerator. We really enjoyed the town of Hillsborough.

One of the nicest old and original inns I've ever had the pleasure to stay in.The bar and restaurant were amazing as well

Would have liked to a desk in the room, my only complaint

Fabulous stay. Clean and central. Would stay again. Nothing.

Very nice quaint hotel. Great service, new but rustic feel room with balcony seating on porch.

The location in the historic center of Hillsborough, is excellent. The restoration is very attractive. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel has excellent food, rivalling some of the best modern southern cuisine in my home town of Charleston. The prices of both the hotel and restaurant were more reasonable than I would have expected. There is only street parking, and it could be blocks away.

The property was absolutely beautiful in such a quaint, historic town. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable! The Inn had a wonderful bar and restaurant on site and was located near the center of town with multiple restaurants and shops. Nothing at all! It was wonderful!

There is only street parking, and it could be blocks away.

would be really nice to have microwave and ice machine accessible to guests . . . felt like such a bother and also awkward, less convenient to have to get a staff member to help with each of these things and repeatedly also . . . blankets . . . extra . . . would make stay so much cozier

love the palpable history, beautiful accommodations, front porches and chairs, proximity to all things downtown . . . especially food, bookstore, ice cream, coffee . . . would be really nice to have microwave and ice machine accessible to guests . . . felt like such a bother and also awkward, less convenient to have to get a staff member to help with each of these things and repeatedly also . . . blankets . . . extra . . . would make stay so much cozier

Nice room with good air conditioning short wardrobe they offered coffee and muffins and granola bars for breakfast. Not a good breakfast

The room temperature adjustments are a bit tricky, but we got it. I should have asked for a thinner pillow; those provided are luxurious but a bit too thick for me.
