It is an excellent resort. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Room is spacious. At the end of my stay, there was a cockroach running in the bathroom.

Honestly, I expect more from a hotel that’s this expensive. There were things that needed to be fixed everywhere I looked. Our room was supposedly just renovated, but it was a sloppy renovation job. The pool table looked like it was from a fraternity house, worn out and ripped. The workout room never had hand sanitizer or wipes. Our bathroom smelled like mildew, and our hallway often had loud industrial dryers set up. We also stayed at the other hotel down the beach, so we couldn’t help but compare the two. The other hotel had umbrellas, cushioned chairs, fresh water in your room, and a better buffet. To say we were disappointed in the fairmont orchid would be an understatement.

It’s difficult to magnify any one thing ,that made our vacation a five star stay, but everything was well meshed and coordinated, and that saves time and ease-well done to the team that makes a stay fluid and care free….

The hotel is really amazing ... the pool, the beach, the room, the restaurant; the only negative point is that at the check out day, the hotel doesn't offer you a place to have a shower! It's so disappointing, specially if your flight is at night that a hotel of this level can't offer their guest this "treat"!

Room was good size, door was sticky and a light did not work. It was fixed but stopped a few hours later. Great sunsets from all the restaurants. Spa was a nice experience. Snorkel rent is convenient. Grounds are lovely. Restaurants are expensive and the food is ok but not great. Room service is not available until 7:15 am. Menu says 6:30 but that’s when they start not when you can get food. There is a deli on the grounds that you can go to that opens earlier.

Beautiful location, excellent staff, and quiet places to write. Everything I was looking for. Breakfast buffet was underwhelming. The food was prepared well, but options were limited and nothing really stood out.

Beautiful location, overall clean and very friendly and helpful staff. My only issue was the restroom in our room did not have locks or sold doors and it didn’t offer much privacy in their design. Other than that everything was wonderful.

Our stay last week at The Fairmont Orchid was fantastic. Starting with the superlative attention and thoughtful detail by Ms. Pua at our check in, the stay was extraordinary in every regard. The incomparable care we felt from all the staff reflects the lasting legacy that makes a stay at the Fairmont so unique. This trip alone we stayed at 3 other 5 star resorts, and though the others were even more expensive, the care and gracious generosity from the staff at the Orchid is without peer. A thousand thanks to all. We look forward to returning to this magical property.

This property is certainly has comfortible rooms and excellent soaps and lotions in the rooms. Maid service 2x's per day is excellent! Where the property could use improvement: cleaner pools, with 24/7 access pools water feels like a lot of bodies have made the water mucky. Access to the Ocean bay is far too hot late in the afternoon and again the water is not clear. Maybe access in the morning?? Food is average and this would include Brown's their 5 Star restaurant. The view is beautiful, but the catch of the day was on the dry side and the desserts were average. Last item, washer/ dryer access. Loved the fact washer & dryer service was included in the resort fee, but 1 washer and 1 dryer on floors 1 and 3 for XXX number of guests.... impossible to get a load of laundry done! Need to invest in a washer/dryer room with at least a dozen machines. I would also recommend a 4th of July BBQ for guests with a some entertainment?? give guests a few options beside the Kona parade/fireworks and the rodeo in Waimea. Would I stay here again? Yes, but now i know what i know, and can plan around short comings of this property.

The Fairmont is likely as good of a “Resort” property as one could find. I am not a fan of Resorts, But when in Hawaii it is difficult to not stay in one. Fairmont is well presented, certainly not a value proposition, but nicely done. Good food, Bars, Pool, etc. shower in the bathtub was far better than the separate shower. Facility does need some paint and refreshing. Grounds and Location are beautiful. I like Fairmont Hotels and they are a brand I seek out, when traveling.
