Red Roof Inn Lansing East – MSU

We arrived and nobody was at the front desk so we waited about 30 minutes for someone to come and called support and they couldn’t reach them either. Then when they showed up they gave us keys to our room and we walked over. Opening the door to the room let out a pungent disgusting smell and there was no bedsheets, a mop knocked over, and hairballs on the ground. The AC did not work either. We got a refund quickly but still a terrible experience

Dirty TV dont work air dont work no soap

There were police at the hotel initially when we arrived. The room was disgusting with garbage left in thr bathroom, the TV was not worrying, which i called the front desk and his response was "Sorry they're nothing i can do. " so we didn't have TV the whole time. Also thr phone had no cord and had to use my cell phone to call the front desk. Lastly there were people "living there" which were sketchy individuals and smelled like pot the whole entire place. Of and the cops can AGAIN that night! It was awful!!!!!!

The location is perfect. No fence. Many people are able to come to this location and not pay for a room and party do illegal drugs in the open like the stairs

It was the graduation week and our booking that we booked 3 months before cost us $90. Immediately after cancellation their relisted our room for $260. Total scammers. Their phone number they list is a cell phone number that goes straight to a voicemail. Avoid.

Many unsavory characters out at all hours.. doing drugs and drinking. Woman screamed profanities at 3am at another guest. I had a few creepy men roaming around the door of my room. I felt like I was going to be assaulted and robbed of my belongings.

Quiet Found bed bugs

When I got there in the lobby. I had an issue with my checking in. When finally checked in and in the room I couldn't get the TV to program to watch some TV. Also when trying to use the microwave I found a plate of food. From a previous guest. To me the room was halfway cleaned.And it smelt like heavy smoke in this non smoking room.The room looked like nothing what the picture was on the website. The only thing that was convenient was it was close to where my husband's appointment for his procedure and close to the interstate to go back home.

Defend for the price. Great location and staff is always friendly. They don’t do a small breakfast or even coffee

Fairley close to where we needed to be. We arrived after 9p as we stated. There was a handwritten note on the door that our reservation was cancelled since they didn't have any rooms for us. Why make a reservation if you don't honor it? They put us in a room that the TV didn't work. WOW not only did the TV not work but the heater did not work, and the wall socket was scorched black. The tile floor was covered with throw rugs since the floor had buckled and was cracking up as a result of a ceiling water leak in the bathroom. They moved us the next day to another room. Interesting that there as a sink in the bathroom, that was located between the shower and the toilet, and no mirror! How are you supposed to see your face when you want to shave? The coffee machine in the room was missing pieces so you couldn't make any coffee. The heater and TV worked in this room. Management gave us an extra night at no charge, woo hoo. This operator should be required to bring the facility up to far better standards then what it has been allowed to operate at. Room 134 was our original room.

I made a reservation and when i got there it was sold out. Tbe clerk was rude. That i made a reservation and no rooms were available. The clerk was ruxe and walked away while i was talking...

I don’t like anything because when I came to check in they have sold my room. I hate this hotel. I paid the room rate before I came but they sold my room. We couldn’t find any room in the middle of the night and looking around They canceled our room without notification.

It was good as far as cleaning and maintenance goes, but they can’t help the people who choose to stay there, and it was a decent experience overall, but it would have been better if the other tenants weren’t outside acting like they had no sense. Kinda uncomfortable being around them.

Beware… any favorable reviews of this establishment are most likely posted in a fraudulent attempt to overshadow the negative reviews. The room smelled of heavy cigarette smoke, the walls were dirty, fixtures look like they hadn’t been dusted in over 8 months; stained comforters and carpet; spider web in the corner; thin mattress on one bed. The heating /AC unit had very dirty coils and there was a mold stain on the ceiling. The microwave was missing its turn table and the refrigerator needed to be defrosted 6 months ago. Not sure of the safety at the location either. We were awakened at 2 am by someone shouting. Really check ALL the reviews before staying here.

Rude uncooperative staff

Room cleaned after I reached the hotel and kept me waiting for 15 Minute for cleaning even though it's pre booked. Toilet seats were dirty and not cleaned even after informing the team. Coffee machine was utter waste, the disposable cups were old and blackish spots in it. Coffee was horrible. Waste bin should be cleaned by us. They won't do it. Towels we need to replace each time by going to the reception and ask. It was a horrible stay here.

It was quiet, though. And the mattress was solid. In all fairness, we stayed here because of a busy graduation weekend at MSU... my fault for not booking our regular place earlier.

Oh my. Because it was MSU graduation rooms were limited so because of my husband’s birthday this was the last room available. We had a handicap room with a broken safety lock on the door. MI weather was a little chilled and the heat/ac did not work. Maintenance was supposed to come check it out but never showed. Not Friday, not Saturday or Sunday. Tv remote did not work either and had to manually turn on, change channels and adjust volume. Front desk was NO help at all. They spoke very little English. They had a dining area but did not serve breakfast. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she would be in Monday. I asked for a complaint card and was told they didn’t have any. I then asked when would we be able to change rooms and was told maybe Saturday. Since Saturday was my husband’s birthday we left and stayed gone several hours to come back and locked out our room. When I asked why we were locked out and was not given an answer she just rekeyed our room key. This was a very unacceptable experience and especially to celebrate my husband’s birthday. If you are interested in coming here Please do not.

Not at all recommended. No value for money. Expedia is cheater.
