We liked the place but we’re glad to spend one day there instead of the full stay. Some place near or in downtown is great to experience more food/entertainment options on the island. This is a bit far. It’s great if you want all your stay to be mostly like a resort stay.

The hotel was so beautiful with gorgeous grounds, very friendly and helpful staff and a relaxed fun environment.

Beautiful property and arguably the best on the island. Quiet and secluded - not besieged by the island tourists like most. However, that means you must walk/bike a few miles or take a carriage to access shops, restaurants, and island activities, so a trade-off to bear in mind. The restaurants at the inn are noticeably more expensive than elsewhere on the island, but the food was outstanding and among the very best we had over our stay on the island. Our room was small but modern, comfortable, and very clean. The staff were friendly and seemed intent on providing a high level of service. Overall, one of the best stays we have had anywhere.

Adult pool and wellness center are well equipped with everything you could need. We ate at "the Backyard" with an amazing sunset view - much nicer than any crowded restaurant near the ferry docks. Chairs around the yard and fire pits for evening s'mores were a very nice touch. We rented the bikes from the hotel directly (which were much better priced and more convenient than the tourist shops) for a 4 hour rental - plenty of time to do the whole island loop and browse the shops before returning to the property. After that we were happy to not leave the property for the rest of our visit. Loved the privacy that the property and amenities offered. We stopped by The Grand which is another place that people rave about, however it seemed much busier and less private... so we were very happy to have the quieter and more private setting that the Stonecliffe offered. Would highly recommend a stay here for anyone looking for a top-tier holiday!

This place is literally paradise on the island! You won’t regret it, book it!

    Amazing stay

The grounds were well maintained. Staff was helpful. However, for a five star hotel I expected the shower in our room to be larger than a shower in an RV. Also, we had to request that the vent in the bathroom be cleaned bc there was a quarter inch of dust and mildew on the vent. We also had to call and request that our room be cleaned and to get clean linens. Even though the hotel had rooms available perhaps due to the blanket of smoke, we were charged twice the amount for two days as if there was limited availability.

This was the most magical, exquisitely stunning, family friendly place I’ve ever been.

Beautiful property, excellent food and drink, and helpful and friendly staff. Our only experience that wasn’t perfect was a carriage shuttle driver who was not very friendly. It did not take away from our experience. We would go back again and again

Service was great. However, I did have to call down twice for extra blankets. Also, the general store sells bottled sodas, but your room does not have a bottle opener. Small details but things you notice because everything else was so well done. Also had to call down for ironing board and iron, which is standard at lower class hotels. It is almost as if they want you to call for service so that you can tip the staff. There was also a card that said you can call the front desk for a microwave. Pluses: second floor view of Lake Huron was great. Large balconies couch lets out into bed if needed for extra guests. Complementary bottled water. Milton Brown toiletries. On-site, restaurants or delicious. Front and rear grounds are impeccable. Well-serviced fire pits, complementary evening popcorn and smore kits. Bar service available while at the fire pits. Complementary entry and exit horse taxi rides Cons: family pool is unguarded. With the amount of staff, it would seem that someone could be present in case of an unfortunate event with a minor. Fire pit/lawn bar service ends too early (9pm). For summer hours, an extra hour is warranted. Costs of in-room snack conveniences. With the cost of all the other conveniences, it seemed petty to charge for the in room refrigerator/shelf snack items (not counting the bar spirits). Overall: excellent.

The property is not close to the main street. It has a life of its own. You do not need to leave the property to have an amazing relaxing time with your family. We rented bikes to go to the main street it was a fun time together and definitely an experience. I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY ENOUGH! ❤️😍
