Staying on the island is very cool. But unnecessarily expensive. Especially when everything else on the island is expensive.

Beautiful location. Would have preferred a better view from the room.

Great location, friendly staff, nice rooms!

Not clean felt like a college dormitory

Clean room. Great restaurant. Rooms are a bit small and the amenities are limited but great relaxing stay.

Hotel is great. Bar and lounge is amazing

Lovely hotel, and enjoyed the history of this establishment. Every staff member was kind, every nook and cranny was as clean as could be, and the restaurant was excellent. The only difficulty we had was people above us walking being very noisy. I don’t think it was the people’s fault above us. I think it was just the fact that the floors are wooden. That said we would certainly stay here again.

Friendly & helpful staff Great breakfast options

This was one of my favorite stays on our trip. The room was clean and the shower toiletries were very very nice. We also got breakfast at 1892 and definitely our best breakfast of the trip with Belgium waffles and eggs benedict and lovely wait staff. The staff in the lobby as well as the bell staff were super accomodating to our needs. The proximity to downtown were perfect. Everything about the location, the walkability, the property was about as good as we could wish for. The ONLY downside is we were in a first floor room facing the back yard area and staff were out loading up wagons first thing in the morning and it wasn't quiet since we were about 5 feet from them. We understand that it was necessary work so we didn't care much but wanted to provide the feedback. Would definitely stay here 100x's over though regardless!

Great water facing locatiom close to the docks, main Street shops and restaurants. Facility also has a couple to fire pits and lounge chair seating in front of the property. They also have a bike rental right outside the property.

Very expensive for the room quality. Tiny room (no place for a chair to sit on, no available counter for coffee maker) primitive door lock (no deadbolt) and clumsy to use wall mounted A/c and heater. Bathroom too small for a sink, so it is stuck in the middle of the sleeping area. Also, the walls are thin and floors are hardwood making you have to put up with loud noises from other guests well into the evening. Our window view was the outside fire escape stairway.

Amazing property and staff. Wish coffee would have been out in lobby longer.

Lovely historic hotel

Had a fantastic stay. It would be helpful if the hotel would offer laundry services.

The property itself, from afar, is beautiful, but close up, it is need of major repair. For $625 a night for the smallest of king rooms, we expected it to be gorgeous, instead our ceiling had a horrible plaster job from a previous leak, our sink was cracked, there were two huge ring stains on the side table, and there was 1 1/2” gap under our door letting major light in at night. The hallway railings were in desperate need of paint and hall doors had the metal door closers removed leaving untreated holes. We also went to The Ice House bar & restaurant after a long day of touring the island on bikes. We were seated but never waited on. It was not busy, and there were many waiters. We told the host and he said, “oh, ok”. Still, no one ever came to wait on us. We got up and told the host we were leaving because no one waited on us, and he said “ok”. Very Disappointing. Our two night stay was $1250.

So glad that we chose to stay at the Island House Hotel over the Father’s Day weekend. It’s a beautiful property pretty close to Main Street and enough distance away from the tourist activities. Here is the best part of our experience…when we checked out, my daughter left her phone in the room. We didn’t realize until after took a ferry out of island. You can imagine a teenage daughter’s reaction 🙂. When we called the hotel, Ellie not only immediately located the phone but also arranged for the phone to be send on the next ferry departing in about 15 mins. We had the phone in our hands in about 45 mins from the phone call. I know for a fact that such customer excellence is rare to find and hence my obligation to recognize Ellie. Thank you Ellie for what you do in maximizing the experience and lifelong memories for families.
