Charming place. Room was small but so warm and cozy. I inadvertently booked an accessible room, so loved the fact that there was a chair in the shower to put my foot on while leg shaving. (Every hotel room in America should have at least a ledge of some kind for this!) Like most of the places we’ve been staying, the Internet was crap. But loved our stay here.

I loved it completely!!! Great in every way will look forward to staying there again and again!

On the surface, the hotel appears glamorous. Unfortunately, the wall unit air conditioning would stay on in the room and the central air wouldn't work at all. My daughter and I woke up in a sweat. There were also a few sewer flies in the bathroom on the day we departed. When I approached the front staff about the air conditioning, her response was less than helpful. Stating that since I booked through a 3rd party, there was not much she could do. When Hotels.com customer service attempted to reach them mulitple times, there was no response. In addition, the only things provided on-site were coffee and a small water refill station. No breakfast or grab and go breakfast options for the following day. For a room that costs almost $500/night, I expected the air conditioning to work and to not see sewer flies while brushing my teeth.

The hotel no longer serves breakfast even though it shows that as an amenity on hotel.com. Also the room, while clean is getting somewhat tired with a very uncomfortable couch and windows that did not lock even though one opens up to an outside stair/patio area.

Despite some unexpected travel delays getting to and from Massachusetts, our stay at The Hotel Marblehead was one of the highlights of our trip. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable hotel close to Salem while enjoying the beauty of Marblehead.

There was absolutely no electricity - exterior or interior lights and NO A/C during the worst heat wave. The hotel had my cell phone number and texted me the code for entry. They could have texted that the hotel had NO lights, interior and exterior, and NO A/C. We arrived at 10pm after driving from Washington, DC for 10 hours and were exhausted. There were no available hotels as it was July 4th weekend in an historical town!

WiFi sad. No elevator. Next trip I will find location further away and appropriately priced. For the insane price I would have expected much better. Take the excess income and buy real WiFi.

This was my first time at this hotel and it was a very good stay. I need a first floor room which is not always easy to find. My room was right off the lobby but it was not noisy. I was pleased with my stay

There was no breakfast which was a total surprise however we were given $7 coupons to go to a muffin shop in town in the historic district to apply towards buying breakfast. That worked out well particularly because we met local people that were lively and gave us a sense of the town.

Beautiful inn with great staff. We loved it!

Room was clean. Well taken care of. The property was easy to access and everything we needed was waiting for us since we were a late check in. Was the best placed we stayed during our trip. Would absolutely stay here again.

Very clean and quite. Ample parking. Nice hot shower.

The worst hotel experience of our lives. We left before our stay was even over. The staff vacates the property promptly at 6:00pm and doesn’t open again until 10:30am the next day. NEVER was this important detail mentioned so we enjoyed a leisurely day driving down from Maine, never dreaming that arriving after 6pm would mean we were completely locked out with nobody to help us and no other place to stay. We arrived at 6:03 and could not get inside. Fortunately another guest encountered us in the parking lot and was kind enough to go inside and retrieve our room key for us. No one was present in the morning for us to check out early and tell about our problem. I even called both the hotel number and emergency after hours number and left messages at both - never heard back from anyone. It shocks me that not a single staff person is in the building or even on call for situations like this. The place is a dump - very run down and poorly restored and poorly maintained. There were holes in the walls from where they moved a towel bar and didn’t bother to fix the plaster. The doors do not close properly and there are plaster “repairs” everywhere that look like they were done by a child. I could go on but you get the idea. Horrible.

Pros: Great location to sites and beach. As a solo traveler, I felt safe. Bright, clean rooms and comfortable bed. Beautiful grounds. Convenient, free off street parking Cons: I must have read old info. No breakfast or bikes on hand. The brief time I met staff was helpful but then no staff btwn 6pm and 10:30am. The AC unit was extremely loud. I did not get a good night's rest because it was too humid without AC and too loud with it on even at the lowest settings.

Once the first night was over things seemed to run more smoothly. Housekeeping is amazing.

We like it fine. We only stayed one night. Enjoyed town. Hard to think we would stay another night. Just not much to offer.

They no longer offer breakfast on site so they told us vouchers were in our room to use at the Muffin Shop. So we checked out at 11 went sightseeing and shopping around the historic downtown and popped into the muffin stop around 1:30 pm. The restaurant wouldn’t accept our vouchers. Said they were expired. They expired at like 11:20 am. I called the hotel and they said that they are valid for 24 hours from the time that they print them off. Which they print them off the day before and put them in your room leaving them valid for only the morning of when you check out. I said why would you get vouchers that expire in the morning of checkout when you don’t even check out until 11 AM? They should be good for 24 hours basically from when you check out. The hotel would do nothing to honor it or make it right. Luckily, the muffin shop was super sweet and still took the amount off our tab. Hotel Marblehead needs to fix this issue.
