Middlebury Inn

Before I say negative things, I will say we appreciated the beauty of being in a historic Inn. The ceilings are very high and the rooms are spacious. Sadly, upon arrival the first room we got had visible gross looking stains on the couch and next to a couch pillow was as a pile of crumbs/dirt (almost as if a vacuum bag of dirt spilled out). I asked for a new room and got one on the next floor up, but the person never apologized but said they would check with the cleaning staff. In the new room I looked at that couch and noted two little crumbs/dirt/dust pieces. I had to clean off all the surfaces. (The room was dusty and smelled musty). The shower tub was peeling and I didn't want my child to even go in there. The carpets on the staircases and hallways were visibly dirty and is very outdated. When I went to check out I shared with the staff about the dirty couch again, and again no apology just a statement that they will check with the other staff. When I asked about the coffee station the staff member did help me but acted as though they were inconvenienced (so not the friendliest comfort staff). In the morning, I got up so quick and wanted to be out so quick. I wouldn't go back since it was so gross.

The Inn was centrally located to the shops in downtown Middlebury.

We loved the Inn, the decor, the historical aspect, the helpful desk staff at check in and a delicious lunch on the front porch. Our room was very nice, comfortable and large with a sofa which was a nice addition to the two beds. Really my only complaint was the breakfast, advertised as a Vermont Cheddar omelet but had only about a tablespoon of cheese at most, it was mostly a plain omelet with chunks of ham on top. A disappointment. I did inform the wait staff who said they have a new person in the kitchen. Okay, but a few dollars off the bill would have been appreciated.

We love the location of the Inn and also that there is a lovely dinner with live music on the property so we didnt need to go anywhere after a long day of travel.

The staff was kind and helpful. The main hotel is beautiful. We stayed in the annex, which was fine, but needed to be aired out a bit. See above.

Exceptional

Another absolutely excellent stay! I've stayed a couple of nights on 12 seperate occasions.One of my favorite places to stay anywhere. I've stayed in 40+ states, 12 countries, and a couple of protectorates across 4 continents. Friendly and accommendating staff who are of great service. Could not recommend highly enough, especially because of their pet policy. Thank you!

Place was well located and clean. The staff was great. We did have a problem with one electrical outlet that we let the staff know and they tried to take care of it and put in a repair notice.

Very good

This is a beautiful and historic inn. We stayed here very last minute due to rain coming in on our camping! We had one room in the back motel like building and one in the main inn. Both were nice. The motel one had a slight odor, but I would say rather standard for a motel. But, it was a nice big room. The lobby and restaurant are nice. We had dessert and drinks in the lobby while playing board games at night.

Breakfast was not included and when we went at 10:05 breakfast was closed. No coffee maker in the room so to get coffee in the AM we had to dress and go downstairs.
