The location was unbeatable for hiking near Muir Woods and Mount Tamalpais. The view from our second-floor balcony was very nice. When we had an issue with our door, Owen quickly fixed it. Common areas are nicely decorated and look and feel cozy. There is a cabinet of board games and books for guests to peruse. The duvet cover was stained in multiple places, and the first set of towels we were given smelled musty. The door was finicky and kind of hard to lock and unlock— it did get a little easier after Owen fixed it.

Loved the quiet and beautiful views from our balcony. Breakfast was lovely and the owner stopped by our table for a pleasant chat. Other than our experience with Grumpelstilstkin at check in, we had a great stay. Maybe he was going through somethingk.

Stellar location, wonderful staff, wonderful room, Muir Woods outside the door Wish there were more dinner options

  • Engine customer May 2026

The views were lovely, and we came as a large group so the communal areas were clutch for spending time together! It was actually so nice to have those at an "inn", since the main reason for an Airbnb is common space. I also appreciated the breakfast, for a "continental" breakfast, there were enough filling and protein options to keep me full. Staff were fabulous and helpful. We SO appreciated all the water stations around with glass cups (flavored and non-flavored). The shower in our room was a bit rough.... The showerhead was at the back of the tub, and that part of the tub was very slanted. It was also very slippery with no bathmat. Both of these things posed a challenge for me. It also got pretty warm in the room at night with no screened window or door to open. We had no idea if critters or bugs are an issue in the area, so we didn't want to leave the patio door open all night. Last thing would be a few more non-dairy protein options at breakfast! Maybe a dairy-free quiche?

The location cannot be beat if you will be spending time in the Mt Tam and/or Muir Woods area. Staff were friendly and provided great service. No elevator and our room was down two flights of stairs. Lunch and dinner options are not great.

beautiful secluded location, historic lodging, perfect for hiking and relaxation. No restaurant on site, but plenty of little porches and balconies and indoor spaces to enjoy the cheeses etc we brought with us. the beds in both rooms were exceptionally soft, caved in the middle

Hotel manager (Mark) is amazing, and went above and beyond. You'd be hard-pressed to find a hotel with a better view facing the city from Marin. This is a special spot. Old school, deep history. They make a great ham sandwich too.

I liked the setting, the beautifully renovated rooms, the view and the serenity. The staff were welcoming and accomodating.

The location and view is one of my favorite in the world. I liked everything! It is more rustic than bougie though but that is great for me.

  • Engine customer Mar 2026

The views were amazing and loved that they are dog friendly. In our particular room, ($300 per night) there was no television. We also arrived during a heat wave. My husband is a heart/ lung patient and would have benefited from have a cool room. We were offered a refund but found out they would only refund $25.00 of the $600.00 we had already put down. We were offered two fans but was not really enough. Barely got any sleep the first night due to the heat in the room. When we left on Sunday 3/22/26, I had to take him straight to the ER, this was the 4th time he had almost passed out during our stay and he is still there 4 days later. Will we be back? No. It could have cost him his life.

Lovely! Great location, great staff. Great hikes and views. N/A

Absolutely beautiful location with view, trees all around, clean air, hiking trails nearby. Staff went the extra mile to quickly meet our requests. Gorgeous room with balcony and amenities. Design of the inn is exceptional and the host has added little touches everywhere through art work, blankets to keep warm in rocking chairs on view porch, board games in the lovely lounge with fireplace... even the water glasses are beautiful! Super comfy soft bathrobes. Peaceful at night, Restaurant was closed. However we were given a good snack type supper of hot soup and sausage. Plenty of great wines and beers.

Breakfast is very good, but otherwise the food options are quite limited (though this might just reflect the time of year!)

  • Engine customer Feb 2026

It was a little skimpy on amenities and the menu was very limited. No shampoo in the bathroom. No soap in the shower, only hand soap. But otherwise everything needed was available. Again the setting made up for it.

Amazing location for hiking Mt Tam. Cooperate with Pelican Inn at Muir Beach which makes an amazing dinner experience. Fireplace in room, balcony, fantastic views.

  • Engine customer Jan 2026

Ample and delicious breakfast included, unlimited coffee and tea. Bathtub spacious. In-room fridge, microwave, coffee maker, heater. Bath robes provided. Comfortable bed. Clean. European ambiance, homey. None I can think of.

It was a beautiful and beautifully decorated building and room, lovely view from a nice patio, completely quiet at night with excellent privacy, comfortable bed, perfectly located close enough to Muir Woods that I could hike down to the main trail close to the visitor's center and back up again after my visit. I liked the nice, big bathtub. The comlimentary continental breakfast was a nice touch, but didn't have enough vegan options. Parking was easy with reserved spaces for registered guests. The staff was nice enough. Booking.com had apparently messed up my reservation: I had selected two nights, but on the second day the front desk staff was confused when I returned from my hike and said hello. She asked if I was staying with them again that night, and I said yes, I have the room for two nights. She came down to my room to ask for proof, because the computer said I was checked out that morning. I had just deleted all of my many duplicate emails from Booking.com because I thought I didn't need them anymore. I had to log in to my Booking.com account (which I deleted today, because this first, last, and only experience was so bad) in order to show the reservation in my account, which did in fact show the dates of two nights. Fortunately nobody else had booked the room, so I could stay. The staff member apologized and said she has also had bad experiences with Booking.com for flights. I would suggest the front desk staff should confirm the reservation with the guest upon check-in, saying, "welcome! I see you will be staying with us for (number of nights inserted here)." That way there won't be any confusion if the booking company messed up the reservation. Wifi is provided, but I didn't bother to use it, so I don't have anything more to say about that. The directions provided got me lost once and almost lost a second time. I tried calling the front desk to ask for help, but there wasn't an answer. I left a message and didn't get a response. I had to figure it out on my own, even though it was the first time I had ever been to that area. The only vegan food options at the bar were fruit salad or hummus with veggies and crackers. I love hummus, I have had all of the different food brands of hummus and many restaurant hummus dishes. It's pretty difficult to mess it up, but this place managed to create the worst hummus ever; terrible texture, terrible taste There's a window in the room between the bathroom bathtub and the bedroom so one can open the shutter and see the view out the patio glass doors from the shower/tub, so I decided to open the shutter on the second night and enjoy the view during my bath. I noticed nose and mouth skin oil stains, like someone had pressed their nose and wide-open mouth against the glass. I have no idea why anyone would do that, but it was gross to see it in a room that was supposed to be cleaned between guests. It made me wonder what else didn't get cleaned after the last guest. When I noticed an accidental overcharge on my credit card statement that didn't match my emailed receipt, I emailed the hotel twice with screenshots because the staff had gone home for the day. Since I couldn't talk to anyone about it, I worried about it so much I had insomnia on my second night. I had to drive to Calaveras Big Trees Park on NO sleep. I even sent a follow-up email from the next lodging where I stayed on my trip, no response. This trip was supposed to be relaxing, and turned out not to be. I finally got home after my stay in Yosemite, looked at my statement, and saw the amount had been fixed; but still NO communication nor explanation.
