Staff is great!! The hotel is need of updating. I understand and appreciate the “nostalgia factor” bit but there’s a thin line between neglect

Such a cute hotel, and rooms are spacious! Staff was excellent and it has a couple restaurants on the first floor. Easy to park too. Would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic stay

We had a good experience at this hotel. We were in the motor lodge next to the hotel. The room was clean and spacious with 3 of us in the room. Staff were friendly. We ate at poor Phil’s which was delicious.

Location is primo My room (210) smelled like mould, and things are a bit worn and dated, but it’s the best option in the area and I would stay again, but ask for another room!

The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location is very convenient. We loved exploring the neighborhood.

Staff were always offering to help and provide solutions, even when we weren't sure ourselves of any issues. Water was offered willingly at the front desk for no extra charge. The cleaning team (4th floor - 8/6-8/9) was always engaging and on top of everything. Great experience and great people!

The Carleton Hotel of Oak Park is a wonderful blend of historic character and modern comfort. The boutique, classic ambiance offers a refreshing change from standard hotel chains, and its prime location makes walking to local attractions effortless. Free onsite parking and easy access to green line are major plus.

Great place to stay. Very clean. We enjoy the charm of the older place but it is all very nice.

It’s a beautiful hotel in a neighborhood worth walking around with nearby attractions. However, it is a good 45 minutes from downtown Chicago.

Located steps away from the train station, lots of shops and restaurants, easy parking. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

Superb

This hotel was a nice place to stay for our 3 day couples trip to Chicago. Situated a short walk from the Harlem station on the Green Line in a pleasant neighborhood, it was easy for us to travel to downtown and to leave our cars in the nearby parking lots the fees of which were included in the room price. The old style property was well maintained and well appointed and didn’t show its age too much because of its old style charm. Our standard room was spacious enough and quite comfortable and held a queen bed., a dresser, a tv, a desk and chair, a table with an armchair.but no luggage rack. There was a small kitchenette with mini-fridge, microwave and coffee maker. No cutlery or dishes were provided except for 2 glasses for the bathroom and 2 cardboard cups for the coffee. A staff member directed us to one of the hotel’s 2 restaurants where we were given packets of plastic cutlery and cardboard bowls which survived 3 reuses in the microwave. Although the room felt quiet, on the 3rd night, the air conditioner from another room could be heard in addition to our relatively noisy one. The bathroom was bright and very clean although 2 tiles needed to be reaffixed to the floor and the bathtub was slippery and in need of some sort of anti-slip treatment. Overall, the hotel room was fine but it definitely needs some tlc from the maintenance staff. Overall, we felt that this room was of good value for the price paid.
