Quality Inn & Suites Ottumwa North

Beds were comfortable, price was low, not much else to note on the positive side. Overall a rundown motel, stains in our room, especially a weird dripping door stop, a cockroach in the stairwell. The pool was filthy with food scraps and cloudy water; no pool towels were present.

I will not be staying here again, I’m a travel nurse and got back late. Men were drinking out front sitting in front of the door. I was given used card keys for the door. No elevator. My room looked clean. The bathroom had hair and bugs. The walls in the room had small brown splatters in some spots. I was so uncomfortable but could not afford to stay somewhere else. Just shows you get what you pay for.

This hotel was a standard Quality Inn. The room was a 2 queen room. Our room was clean. The breakfast was good. But it's a hotel that is lacking some finish. Our double paned window was broken on the outside layer. So no broken glass on the guest side, but we could see the broken on the outside. As we walked our dog at this pet-friendly hotel we could see that many were broken similarly, so it was probably hail that took out many panes. Staff were friendly and we liked the indoor pool. Older hotel that needs some updates and the bathroom was lacking a towel bar or hooks. Caulk around the toilet and tub was peeling and broken. Deferred maintenance was the story. But we had a good 2 night stay.

There was an available room when I asked to switch rooms. And there was a breakfast. And the location was good. The staff was out smoking in front of hotel upon arrival. The security door bar was broken, I switched rooms. There was trash littering the entryways. The maintenance done in the room was not great. Remote control casing taped backed together with scotch tape, and wall patches not properly done. The cleaning seemed okay at first, but there was what I’m assuming to be fecal matter splattered on the wall behind the toilet and the bedding smelled like cheap cologne. The hot tub was too hot to sit in. We booked this hotel for a hot tub with affordability. The pool was not used by us as there was a women yelling and cussing in the pool area. The breakfast was okay. There was a kind employee that was doing her best to work the front and the breakfast at the same time. Food was obviously reheated, no bacon, or anything fresh.

A lot of things- -The parking lot did not have much light, for the location of the hotel. -Walking into the room felt like a freezer and it smelled like it had not been cleaned for awhile. When we turned the air off to warm up, the stench that came from the unit stunk horribly. It was like it was burning or the filters have not been changed for a long time. - a bug ran out from under the bed and I had to step on it and kill it. Plus there was a dead bug laying in the closet area. - upon taking a shower noticing that the shower head was an inch and half away from the wall exposing the hole in the wall. It alone was a questionable sight.

Clean quiet room, clean building, helpful, friendly staff. Nice swimming pool. Hot tub could move water better.. but hot.
