Sugar Sands Beachfront Hotel, a By The Sea Resort

I’ve stayed here multiple times a year for several years. This year the property has changed the limited parking to include paid parking for non guests of the hotel making it inconvenient to find a parking spot.

The maintenance crew was in the ceiling, watching women take baths and showers. They should all be arrested.

The view was incredible, closeness and access to the water was perfect. The shower was peeling, ceiling was terrible stained, dirty and in some places damaged. 1hr into us checking in, we decided to lay down and take a nap and was instead greated with the maintenance man walking in to warm up his food. Lights were on and he still felt the need to enter. This tells me that its normal for staff to use rooms in between guest. This means your room is never 100% unused or clean. When i brought this up to the woman behind the counter she told me that he was doing work on another unit and walked in the wrong unit. She knowingly lied for him. When i approached him he was just putting his food in the microwave. No accommodations were made we had to request another room that had a faulty ac unit. No call from the manager, no discount, no care or concern.

The staff was excellent from check-in to check-out. Anything we needed they were willing to help. The room was very clean when we checked in, however during our stay there were several small brown bugs with wings crawling on the cabinets. Of course I killed them. Also some large palmetto bugs got in, that we also killed. We couldn’t sit on the balcony during the day because of an enormous amount of flying black bugs, which I know you can’t control. The pool area, and the water were kept perfectly. The beds were clean and comfortable. The T.V.remote back was missing so the batteries kept falling out,but we made it work okay.

The room was oddly made and the air conditioning could not be felt in all areas due to partition.

Of course the staff could not help the love bugs that were hanging around apparently those bugs show up and bite everyone yearly. lol But good location and budget friendly place to stay in Panama City!

Front desk was so friendly and accommodating to any need. No smoking enforcement

People at the desk were friendly . The room was a little cramped with the full size fridge and stove. To be fair , we only stayed the night. Someone staying several days or a week would benefit from the appliances. The bed was very comfortable.

the view of the beach was beautiful and the full kitchen for such a great price would definitely stay again. maybe have breakfast

The beach was beautiful and not crowded which we loved. The room floor was filthy along with some kitchen items being filthy. The kitchen was no a fully stocked kitchen with cookware. The lady who checked us out a departure was so sweet. The manager Selena was nice and helped get our room clean. The other manager was very dismissive and not helpful at all. It took 2 days to get our room cleaned and we had to go get towels and toilet paper ourselves.

Outdated rooms. They tried to update a little. But New curtains & bedding would have helped. Walking out of your room right onto the beach was great.
