Riverview Inn & Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The breakfast was excellent! And I really liked the breakfast attendant! It’s nice to see someone who actually enjoys their job! She’s a gem! I’ll definitely stay here again when I have to visit the Rockford area.

The first night there were parties yelling outside our door which was right next to the elevator. Then they proceeded to outside right under our window and played loud music and danced from 2 am to 4 am. So next day we tried to move to another room but they were fully booked. The WiFi never worked and the poor lady who checked us in must have been working 15 hours a day.

The room itself was surface clean. The mattress was very comfortable. However, there looked like mold growing on the lampshade, and there was a large red stain on the carpet. There was also carpet stains throughout the entire facility. I left around 10 the next morning and put the green sign on my door knob saying the room was ready for housekeeping. I returned to my room at 5 pm and no one had come to clean my room. I went to the front desk to make them aware, and specifically ask them to make a note that housekeeping would take care of my room the next day. The next morning I left at 9 and returned after 5 and housekeeping had not done anything to my room, again. I went to the front desk to make them aware, the attendant was rude and asked me if I had put the sign out. I said no, and she said “well then how would they know to clean your room?” I told her that when I checked in, nobody said that was a requirement for housekeeping, and I had done it the day before, and it didn’t work. She said “well housekeeping is left for the night. What do you need?” Staff was generally unhelpful, cleanliness was not great. The only helpful person there was the person running breakfast each morning.

interior of the building is unique. My family and I love it. I love the suite we stayed in. looks exactly like the pictures online and better. The suite was clean and smell fresh. perfect for bringing kids if need to.The air conditioner did its job especially that my family and I travel the week the weather was 80 degrees or higher. The staff at the front desk were amazingly great!. the other staff throughout my stay were very polite and helpful. Very please with the continental breakfast, it was more than expected. Included sausage and this great tasting biscuit and gravy. The area were breakfast were set up is a beautiful, relaxing scenery that you can look out of the window unto the beautiful water in trees.

The pictures on the website are misleading, the bar in the pictures is only for use for private events. The restaurant at the facility was closed due to a private event. (I purposely called in advance to find out what type of food was available because we did not want to leave after we checked in after a long drive. The carpets in this establishment do not look like they have been vacuumed or shampooed in years, the walls of the hotel were dirty. In regard to the pool area, no staff is available to keep other rowdy clientele under control. For a hotel that is named the Riverview Inn & Suites, there is no longer a river view due to the clearly neglected land scaping . Overall, I would rate our stay a 3 out 10. It's a shame because the facility has so much potential, clearly it does not have the qualified management or staff to care enough to get it to that point.

Staff was great. Restaurant was o surprise - fine dining quality. Bed was wonderful. Best coffee ever in the lobby. Loved having 2 bathrooms. Room was clean but smelled musty on entering.

The room had a great view of the river and I appreciated the charm and details in the woodwork in the lobby. The room itself was spacious and comfortable and it felt like actual people ran the hotel, instead of a corporation. The hotel could use a few updates, specifically the elevator, but it was an overall good experience. I would stay there again.

Distinctive lobby and large rooms. Very good breakfast with helpful staff keeping food options replenished and tables clean. Check in was not smooth but problems were taken care of. Location turned out to be a plus, with nice setting, nearby restaurants, and convenient access and parking.

The King Suite would have been nice but the room had a bad stench and was not clean. The bed linens were covered in animal fur and stains, which makes me believe they were not changed after the previous guest. We also had to buy air freshener because the room had such a heavy animal scent. The front desk employee was very accommodating with this situation, since there were no other rooms we could be placed in and the cleaning crew was not available at the time. We were provided with brand new linens and pillows. The property has so much potential but needs to be renovated ASAP. I think the prices should be lowered until the property is updated and able to be cleaned properly.

Clean hotel

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was average, but it was still good. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
