The Inn At Harbor Shores

As our grandson proclaimed this week 'This is my favorite Hotel'. We had a wonderful stay. We love the redesign of the lobby, restaurant, and bar. We ate at Plank's on Friday for lunch, Friday for dinner, and Sunday for brunch. We were able to eat outside for 2 of the meals. Our grandsons loved sitting out eating with the heaters on. The turning basin is beautiful, we enjoyed watching folks fishing out in the basin. We had a golf side room which faces Hole 5. We read about the hole in the book in our room and were fascinated watching folks tee off and play. We usually take a golf view because that is the side the train is on!!! Needless to say our 4 yo grandson loves to hear the train whistle as it approaches and runs out to watch it go by. Everyone is always so accommodating and helpful. The stay here is well worth the cost. It is our happy place in St. Joe area.

The outdoor hot tub was amazing! The restaurant was very good! The room was great!

The overall experience was pleasant — the room was spacious, bed comfortable, and I enjoyed the balcony with the view of the water. I didn't drive, so the location is a little bit inconvenient; although they have a shuttle bus that goes into town. I had a dinner at the restaurant one evening which was ok; the cocktail was tasty.

Very comfortable hotel with great water views

This is a lovely property right on the Harbor. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The bed is very comfortable. The only negative is that the bathroom light and fan are on one switch and the fan sounds like an airplane engine. If you or your partner is older and gets up during the night, this is particularly bothersome. The planks is a great place for dinner. The food was delicious and the service was great. I would stay here again.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Balcony rooms delightful view of the river. Breakfast service excellent and enjoyed eating outside, although some trouble with bees. Food was cooked to perfection and delicious. Had to request coffee refill, not offered.

Great location, convenient to downtown. Nice restaurant and outdoor pool. Updated rooms and clean. Pull out couch was extremely uncomfortable. It was difficult for staff to find extra pillows/blankets when requested.

The room was spacious and the staff friendly. Always nice to have a room with a balcony but due to the weather we couldn’t take advantage of it.

They didn't clean my room in spite of my clear instructions on the door. When I informed them, they said they were short staffed.

What a terrific 2 night stay we enjoyed. Have been coming here, typically in September to enjoy quieter beaches and warmer Lake Michigan temps! From our check-in with Ryan, a familiar face over the years, to new meets with Jen from housekeeping who could not have made us feel more welcome, and Nathan in Planks restaurant bar who guided us in menu choices, it was our most enjoyable stay yet! Rooms facing the harbor are worth the small upgrade if available. Looking forward to visiting again, hopefully quite soon. Oh, and maintenance man who worked at the pool/hot tub area was also kind and capable. The staff rocks at the Inn at Harbor Shores. Thanks for making for a great stay.

Liked the Plank restaurant. Was unhappy with the housekeeping. There was none. There was no shower gel in the shower and the bathroom grout had mold in it and the baseboards were filty. I would expect fresh towels and some light housekeeping for what we paid for the hotel. That is very cheap of them not to provide any service whatsoever. When I complained about the shower gel, I got two tiny bottles left on our door. Not much of a resonse.

Good location and the staff is very kind.

Spent a long weekend there. Friendly staff. Good food at the restaurant. Clean. Rooms were well appointment. The hotel exceeded our expectations. We would return there without hesitation.

Cons: Shower floor was very slippery; requested non-slip shower mat but hotel had none. Closet was very narrow. Coffee pods were not replaced after first night.

This place is an absolute jewel.

My husband and I just got back from a quick two-night getaway here. We had a really good time overall, but there were definitely some hits and misses!The Good Stuff:The hot tub was amazing and super relaxing.Getting a free welcome margarita when we checked in was such a fun, unexpected surprise.The room looked modern and was mostly really clean. Housekeeping did miss a couple of small things—like an old coffee pod left inside the Keurig and a leftover paper plate out on the balcony (we just tossed it ourselves, no big deal since I know balconies are hard to keep up with).The Not-So-Good Stuff:My biggest letdown was the beach situation. The description on Hotels.com explicitly calls it a "rare find" where you can "enjoy uninterrupted access to the beach." There actually isn't a beach here at all—it's just a harbor. A real beach is close by, but we had to drive to it every time.The room view was also pretty misleading. We got a "Golf View," but that really means you're looking at a parking lot and railroad tracks first, with the golf course way in the background. I was hoping to read my book looking at green grass, not a parking lot!Lastly, we bought some drinks at the bar later on, and honestly, the free check-in margarita in the plastic cup tasted way better than the expensive one we paid for.
