Hayes Mansion, San Jose - Curio Collection by Hilton

We had an issue with the AC not working in our room so we had to switch rooms. In our new room the fridge either wasn’t working or wasn’t plugged in. Besides that everything was great.

It’s an old mansion so it shows the age, but overall is a great place. I stay there when ever I get a chance

Good stay

The property is sprawling, so you will definitely need the map. It was another warm day in San Jose, so grateful for a cool room. The fridge is always a nice touch to keep drinks ready for adventures. I love all the pillows and the desk by the window with a super comfy chair. So many small touches make this a special destination

Staff was not helpful and garbage in the view of my window was over flowing and the landscaper blew dirt on both our vehicles had to pay 100 bucks to get both washed at classic car wash. And had to pay 66 bucks to park my cars in parking lot to get filthy by landscaper blowing debris all over it

The grounds and hotel were prestige. The check-in staff were less than friendly with no information provided about the restaurant or bar hours. The breakfast mananger in the other hand went above and beyond allowing us to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee and bagel rather than the buffet.

The first was that it had a spa. In fact, it used to have a spa. The second was that the restaurant, Palm and Embers, was available to watch the World Cup. For the match between Norway and England starting at 2pm, the restaurant was closed. Even so, we were told by the persons at the front desk and a restaurant employee that it was okay to have a seat and watch the game...without restaurant service...which was already on the TV. We tried, but the restaurant "manager" told us to leave. When checking out, we mentioned our disappointment. The lady at the front desk took notes, expressed her concern and asked it was okay if the hotel manager called to learn more. It's been three days, so he's either not interested or already aware.

I was told parking was $20 after I made my reservation. It ended up being $24.20. Not cool. Do yourself a favor and park in the park parking lot across the street. The pool was nice but the hot tub was lukewarm in the morning.

Loved the room. Nice and clean and really comfortable.

The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable. I loved the history of the property and appreciated having a restaurant on site. Definitely a wonderful hotel for relaxing.

This was a great hotel property to relax and unwind. The setting was very peaceful and tranquil.. a very enjoyable stay

The biggest issue was the pool area. There were only two lounge chairs available for the entire pool, and once they were occupied, I had no choice but to lay my towels on the ground to relax. I spoke with the front desk twice asking if additional lounge chairs could be brought out. Both times I was told someone would check with engineering and get back to me, but no one ever followed up or provided any update. Throughout my stay, the staff came across as dismissive rather than helpful. When I asked about a room upgrade, I was simply told it would only be possible if I extended my stay, which wasn’t a helpful solution. The property itself also felt underwhelming. The pool looked dingy and not as clean or inviting as expected, and I was surprised there wasn’t even a pool bar or basic poolside amenities. To make matters worse, I requested that a manager contact me after my stay, and despite being told someone would call, I never received a follow-up. The lack of communication and customer service was frustrating. Overall, this hotel did not meet my expectations, and I don’t feel the experience reflected the price I paid. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes improvements to both the guest experience and customer service.

The staff was lovely. Buffet breakfast was convenient and tasty. Love the property and decor. We stay here every time we come to San Jose.

The property is beautiful and is located in an area that is fun to explore. My only complaint is the temperature in my room. The a/c was on but did not cool the room. I did open the windows to cool the room down and slept with the windows open. I would definitely stay here again.
