Best Western Santee Lodge

The room stunk like dirty mop water, stained sheets, found spider in my bed alive.

The room didn’t feel well-maintained, bedding had a weird smell and felt like not washed.

The hotel was outdated and dirty. Sticky floors, stained bedding and multiple places smelled like urine. The staff did the best they could to help, but the whole place needs a major renovation. At least the staff was nice though.

Breast staff and accommodating

It was a really great location Didn't like the staff the extremely tight hours of the pool the parking was congested and chaotic

We loved the breakfast on the second day, on the first day, not so much. Hostess on arrival and departure were good. Jacuzzi was nice especially after a long day! First day's breakfast was not the best and the fridge did not cool as well.

Someone open our door in the middle of the night, luckily I had set the indoor lock, scary someone was able to open the door with another key!!!

1.The shower wall pulled out every time you pulled the handle to engage the shower. 2. The AC/Heat/Fan controller had most of the LED lights burned out so you couldnt tell what was in or what the mode or temperature was. 3. The shower curtain leaked water onto the floor even when tucked into the tub, and when we wiped it up with a towel, it was obvious the floor was dirty. 4. There was no soap in the soap dispenser, and when I called the front desk, the connection was so bad that I could barely hear him. 5. The breakfast was very limited. 6. The charging connector on the bedside lamp was broken. 7. Didn't receive clean towels unless we found a housekeeper and specifically asked. We had requested towels each day at the beginning of our 4 night stay.

Decent place

This motel needs some major updating and cleaning. The first NON-SMOKING room we were given reeked horribly of smoke, a filthy dog odor and some other disgusting smell we couldn't figure out. We complained and the front desk person came to confirm and immediately said someone must have smoked and had a pet there. He said they were completely full, but had one room left, hmmm.... He took us to that one and the key wouldn't open the door. Then he said "we've had a problem with the lock on this room for a while and haven't had it fixed. Not sure why he would bother to have us try the key. He them let us in with the master key for the entire complex. We were going out that night, so he said when you come back in tonight, someone at the front desk will let you in. Very odd, but we had no choice at this point. This room didn't smell good either, but not as bad as the first. It overlooked the top of the roof with a large number of wires feeding into a receptacle. There was no air conditioner in the bedroom, so you had to turn up the one in the other room full blast and lave the adjoining door open so it could drift into the bedroom. The chairs had disgusting stains, the floor was scuffed up, and the unit just had a very "tired" feel to it. In addition, the bed and pillows were uncomfortable, and we both woke up with aches. I am surprised that Best Western would have their name on this property. I'm also disappointed that Hotels.com would offer this as well!

Close to where we needed to be. Room took too long to cool off.

The room was clean. We asked for cleaning service every other day. No one came. Had to ask for clean towels. The shower rod was loose so the curtain kept slipping causing water to get on the floor. The screws were coming up on the trim between the floor and the carpet so we had to put a towel to cover them so we didn't trip or stub a toe on them. The pool didn't look very clean. Wasn't filthy though. The room was small, but since we were using it just to sleep, it was okay.

Managed to get an accessibility room after some discussion. Evidently you can only reserve them if you phone in and not by registering online. Also right outside the accessible room was the only ice machine for the whole facility and it is not secured at night. People were filling large coolers at all times during the night. Most did not actually stay at the lodge.

Parking was good. Breakfast underwhelmed. Toast, tiny muffins, cereal, eggs weren't good, sausage wasnt very good. There was batter mix for waffles but we just walked to the donut shop right next door.

Staff very unfriendly. Property was nice

It was convenient to where I needed to go I will never stay again one of the worst best western I have ever stayed in The manager accused me of smoking marijuana I opened my door to let them in just to prove it I had children in my room and I don’t smoke every night, I had to go to the office to get my key reactivated cause it wouldn’t open my door the floors were lifting in the room, and one of the beds was broken on the way to the bathroom is there’s this little metal piece . I almost cut my foot on it
