It's a nice hotel. Unfortunately, it's on a busy thoroughfare, and below a hill behind which is a freeway. This prevented me from experiencing the quiet of the forest atmosphere for which the area is known. The coffee service in the dining area was splendid. I had cappuccino from a versatile machine and it was good. There was also four juices, including orange juice. There were many coffee sweeteners. Not so in my room. There were two Sweet 'N Lows, several packets of white sugar, and one creamer for four packets of coffee. When I tried to call the Front Desk, the phone didn't ring. The Direct TV access was bad. First, the remote was not a Direct TV remote, so there was no Guide. Secondly, there was no way to search for a program. You had to wait for the onscreen menu to slowly scroll through every channel starting with a low number, so if you wanted to watch something that was on channel 235, you'd have to wait till it got there. Consequently, I didn't watch TV. Finally, they allow dogs, but there is no natural area outside for a dog to walk in as there is in many hotels. The water in the sink came out warm immediately, with good pressure, and the fan worked well.

The buffet breakfast was fabulous. My wife and I had a great one night stay.

The staff was friendly and welcoming from check-in to check-out, and they were very accommodating to our service dog, which we truly appreciated. We slept great because the area was nice and quiet. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay here again. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Scotts Valley/Santa Cruz area! Breakfast was delicious!

While checking in, I was informed that there is a pet fee. This is normal and not surprising. What is surprising is that it is charged per pet and per night. Typically, a pet fee is charged per stay. I was not happy to pay the fee but I had already been charged for my 2-night stay before I even arrived and didn’t have any other accommodation options, so I paid the *triple digit* pet fee. On the walk to my room I see people who appear to live in the hotel rooms. They are barbecuing in what looks like underwear in front of their room. When my husband and I entered the room he says, “we definitely got the pet room”. The smell is terrible, the floor is covered in old pet stains and some sort of dark mystery dribble next to the wrinkled bed. Photos attached. I don’t see why they charge a pet fee AND deposit if it doesn’t go toward cleaning the rooms. We immediately told the front desk that the room was not acceptable and wanted to check out. He would not let us change rooms & said we had to contact Hotels.com to refund night 2 of our stay. Hotels.com said Best Western had to refund. We received no refund even though we left early because the room was unsuitable.

Its ok for one night stay.. the room kinda small especially the restroom vent exhaust kinda load and you cant turn it off without turning the light on.. we love the breakfast..

Arrived inside the room and first thing we saw was a dirty toilet with poop stuck all over it. We called the property and specifically asked if they offer a pack & play, they said yes with a nightly fee. But when we requested they said they don’t offer it. Made us uncomfortable and could not trust what else in the room was neglected.

Good breakfast, clean room, parking was quite tight- we are an ADA family and there were no spots for us, had an elevator but then needed to climb 4 stairs. Not really ok. Amenities not helpful- body wash for shower was one tiny bottle for 2 queen bed room, one bar of soap. Want coffee? Sugar and creamer but no napkins in those packets, want to turn on vanity light? The whole room will wake up with its brightness. I just expected more comforts.

Our stay was great! Our room was very clean, and the property was well kept. Very quiet and nice.

Staff member was polite. The room looked clean, but had a stuffy smell. The hair dryer didn’t work. The Nextdoor guest was on his cellphone (walking back and forth on the hallway) past 3:00 a.m. and the worst part, I lost $900 cash trying to not scratch the car parked next to us since the parking spaces are way too small.

Just a basic hotel with fairly comfortable rooms. But the bathrooms fans were super noisy and need to be replaced. My bed was pretty comfortable, but my wife complained her bed was too soft and hurt her back. No balcony or view. Convenient to Santa Cruz.
