Route 66 Hotel, Springfield, Illinois

This place was a little rough. Lobby smelled like pot and the rooms are a little run down. Clean and comfortable but a little shabby

They are very accommodating. The staff is top notch It just needs a little update

The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning didn’t seem to be working very well. We were only staying one night and we didn’t make a big deal about it. The hotel room was updated and the shower was nice. It was an acceptable place to stay for the price.

Love the Route 66 stuff. Nothing

The air conditioner was quiet and didn’t blow directly towards the bed. The evening desk clerk tried to be helpful. Most everything else… • First room, fridge not working and stinky, gave us new room with no side chair • TV remote didn’t work, clerk had to come reset • No garbage can in room • Phone non operational so I had to walk down to lobby every time there was an issue with the room • The large lobby area stunk of Marijuana and cigarettes • Room pretty worn down…bathroom area with newer tile was OK • No safety bar in walk in shower • No cold water in sink…both faucets gave hot water • No soap in shower…empty dispenser…not a good thing to discover when you’ve already started your shower! • No daily room service…not even to make bed or empty garbage. Only available if you ask but they don’t tell you that so you don’t know to ask.

During our Route 66 road trip, my husband and I tried to stay in hotels along Route 66 and hotels that weren't chain hotels. This property is not very well maintained. We had to change rooms as soon as we checked in because the draperies that covered a large window were broken. The hotel also had a strong marijuana odor. We learned the next day that half of the hotel is a long-term residence and that is where the odor was coming from.

We were able to get a different room for $460.00 3nights the room was terrible the toilet wasn't secured to the floor, didn't even have a toilet paper holder. They did assign us to a better room.The entire motel is in a well used condition,but hey it's nostalgic.

Place has great potential, needs a bit of maintenance and the glass widows at the front of the room aren’t really necessary an eye sore if you ask me the rest of the room was great again just needed maintenance. We were upgraded to a jacuzzi room which we were so happy about and really enjoyed it. If you ask me if you get the maintenance done it’s a special place and I don’t think you could have a problem increasing the price. The lobby has very cool route 66 decorations in it. The room was fine overall. Very clean.

There was alive and dead bugs under bed. Dirt was under bed. No towel racks anywhere to hang towels on. Smelled like smoke in hallways and room. It was like a cheap bar/one hour stays. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nada Terribly disappointed and angry. The room was VERY DIRTY and completely devoid of any welcoming touches; it was unfit for use—not even for showering. A TOTAL LACK OF MAINTENANCE. OLD AND DILAPIDATED. A place can be classic or antique, but not neglected (dampness, stained sheets and pillows, and a foul, musty, stale odor). NOT RECOMMENDED.UNHEALTHY

The place definitely has a Route 66 vibe. Easy parking, quiet, and right on the mother road.

Everything was just ok. Nothing stood out.

Hotel needs to be kept in better condition. Room could’ve been cleaner. The room smelled musty and like cigarette smoke. Front desk was helpful

Excellent staff. No complaints

Mixed opinions here, however the lady on the desk was so lovely, she upgraded our room therefore we had a hot tub, didn’t use the hot tub however so cannot comment here, the bed sheets initially to look at was fresh and clean but the mattress topper was full of yellow stains, so was the mattress protector, but we looked right down the the actual mattress and this looked brand new! The room over all looked clean enough, tv, fridge, microwave, hairdryer, enough towels and the bed was was comfy, the look of the hotel is great as it’s all route 66 themed and this is why we was here, I would say it’s ok for getting your head down somewhere for a night like we did It smelt… horrendous, like damp, stail cigarettes from the minute you walk in, the mattress topper was full of yellow stains, so was the mattress protector

I love the first night with the lady that checked us in she was very nice to me and not only me but my kids but the young big guy working was very rude and nasty to us. Not just the night after check n we added a day to our stay we live in town on our central air went out ...well. We needed one more day I went through Expedia with my card and he tried to get me to pay again . When I confirmed he never even apologized. Then that night lady came back old guy and his wife was complaining at 9;30 it started when I was giving all my kids a bath that they was too loud well they knew I had 3 bby under three one on a gtube and required oxygen to breath . On top that we had to move rooms she said normally her boss kicks people out but she gave us another room I appreciate that but there was no soap worms in sink toilet n shower I had to clean to let bbys use . Then the bed sheets had bugs on them . I went spoke to her she said we would be fine we can leave at 12 and if we ran few min behind that it's ok well then the big guy came again yelling at us saying ur being to loud well our key was no good I asked him to just renew long enough to get my oxygen tanks out n the bbys stuff cause I cleaned the room . To the women that helped us you are so appreciated but to that man u should be ashamed to have treated a disabled baby that's only three the way u guys did people have kids u can't place a muzzle on them specially making us move at 12 am didn't get done tell 1:30 am had to leave at12

Good location. Lots of cool Americana relating to route 66. Staff were friendly. Laundry services good. Good parking. Comfy bed. Room wasn’t made up when we were given room key at 8pm. Not an issue the staff gave us a new room. However both the rooms and the hotel communal areas strong smell of stale cigarette smoke. Clearly not recent use. But the smell is deep ingrained in the walls and carpets are horrid. Acrid smell stays with you even in sleep. Noise travels also. Lots of people using communal areas late into the night and corridors and no noise insulation in the rooms at all.
