On The River Inn

We had a river view suite. Trouble was you couldn’t see the river. There was to much undergrowth and trees, so you couldn’t tell there was a river there. The view from our balcony was beautiful, out onto the large lawn and a small pond. The TVs are old, so you couldn’t stream. Make sure you tell the front desk or put out your door hanger or you won’t get your room refreshed. The bar seemed open only during dinner hours. During our stay, one night the chief was “out” and they only served burgers. Breakfast was around $18, we never went down. Our room was large and bathroom adequate. It’s a 10 minute drive to town. It’a satisfactory hotel, but not worth the price.

It’s over priced for a hotel requires us to drive to Woodstock and its restaurants and amenities. Although it was not full we were allocated a room at far end of the hotel where WiFi was poor and the room was a bit smaller because stairway next to the room took out part of the space.The pool and sauna were good and clean. The facility was overpriced for what it offered. We couldn’t find food or even a coffee. Our room was clean but not even a bottle of water. We requested an ironing board but by the time they responded it was too late. The shower curtain didn’t fit the shower and the bath tub was broken. The hair dryer smelled like fire. If you need a gym forget it. There is one treadmill, some weights and a bike. Definitely better options out there for less. Also the check in person was very unwelcoming.

Wonderful Inn and grounds. Everything you need!

Housekeeping was a bit lax. No tissues and only one hand towel. The rest of the Inn was great!

My wife and I are doing a long road trip for our 20th anniversary. We had initially booked two nights, but had a change of itinerary. We were charged a fee to cancel, but understood. We rebooked for one single night. When we got there they said they didnt have a reservation for us. We showed them emails from them saying they were looking forward to us on that date, we had a reservation number, they even took the deposit and full room rate off our credit card several weeks prior. We booked a king room, but when we got there they said they were all gone. That even if they did find the reservation there was nothing they could do to give us the room we reserved and paid for. Then they said they found the reaervation and it was for the following day, and it was our fault. Even though our hotels app and email correspondence all said the date we were there. They insisted we were wrong. We settled on obviously we werent staying there, could we get a refund. They said yes. So after driving half the day, we drove another several hours to our next stop in Stowe and stayed an extra night there. Manager was supposed to call us the next day but never did. We called and was told she emailed us. We never got an email. Asked again for a phone call. Never got a phone call. We called again a few days ago because we still hadnt recieved the refund, or a call, and was told the refund was processed and would take up to 5 days or so. Was a horrible experience in woodstock and wont be going back.

Everything especially the gorgeous dining room!!! Everything was perfect.

We selected and reserved a room with a river view and were assigned 105. The actual river was not visible from our windows or balcony. That was a little disappointing. The room itself was very nice and well maintained. The food in the 506 Bistro was excellent, both the daily breakfasts and the two dinners we had there. The wings with maple were especially tasty. The staff we engaged were nice. We probably will not visit Woodstock again now that we spent a few days there, but if we did I would stay there again but not pay a premium price for a river view.

The inn is a little run down. The carpet in the first level hallway is in desperate need of replacement, and the downstairs hallway has a very off putting sewer smell. Lastly, the back of the inn, viewed from the expansive lawn in the back, is dirty and the railings need to be painted. On a bright note, some of the staff members were friendly, and the guys that run the restaurant do a really good job. That being said, we would definitely not stay there again.

Pillows

The staff were very kind and attentive to my needs. The breakfast was outstanding. The luggage carts were old and difficult to push due to the wheels being worn out. Hot tub jets not really working and no river view from balcony as lead to believe. I was expecting more for the price but overall a nice place to stay for the night.

It was our second time staying and it was even better than the first!! We love on the river Inn, keep up the great work guys!

We had a wonderful stay at On the River. The room was large, clean, and very quiet. It's a short, quick drive into town. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A good choice when staying near Woodstock.

Room and beautiful property

Breakfast buffet (included with our Expedia stay but extra for others) was always hot & fresh. We had 4 breakfasts: French toast, pancakes, waffles, french toast again. There was always fresh homemade pastries and muffins, yogurt, and oatmeal. I would have loved some fresh fruit like berries to go with the yogurt instead of apples and oranges. Staff was always so nice and helpful, especially at breakfast. Housekeeping forgot twice to give us the 4 fresh towels (gave 3 instead) but we got replacements when we asked at the desk.

The River has a home away from home feel. There are activity rooms for toddlers and teens. An indoor pool and spa as well as a sauna. Our room had a back porch with rocking chairs. I also walked out to a river at the back of the property . Deco is great in hotel and lounge and food was good in the lounge. I regret we only had one night here.
