On the River Inn is a beautiful hotel with lovely grounds, comfortable and spacious rooms, good beds, and an excellent breakfast. I was sorry that I couldn't have stayed a few more nights. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet, comfortable, welcoming, relaxing place to stay.

The property us very nice, family friendly and unique but it did not meet my standard for cleanliness.

It was ok but needs a refurb

Great decor. But needs to be deep cleaned in hallways and rooms. The breakfast area and restaurant nice. Disappointed in the room and worn out.

We had a wonderful stay at this cute Vermont Inn. There was a variety of foods offered at breakfast, and we all thought it was delicious. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and thought it was tasty and fresh. The staff is very helpful and courteous. I would have given solid 5 stars, but the towels are a tad scratchy and the room carpet has a wet dog odor...but the rooms are very clean and nice.

It was a gem in just outside of town.

We ended up staying at On the river after we failed to spend the night at our Airbnb. There was a F1 tornado that hit the Woodstock area the night before and there was no electricity. Anyway, the hotel sits on a lovely spot and their grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed their breakfast and hot tub/pool area. I can’t give this place a 5 star rating for the following reasons. It is a pet friendly hotel which we love because we our pet lovers. However, the carpet in our room smelt like dog pee. Cleaning is upon request and there is a time frame to request that. We followed instructions yet our room was not done. We try to help conserve and never ask for cleaning on a 2 night stay but our daughter had a nose bleed so we needed her sheets changed and last, the person at the bar was not the friendliest towards my husband. We paid over $500 a night. I’m aware that Woodstock is a very pricey destination but still. Coming from Texas $500+ a night you expect a lot!

Room was fine, but a bit musty on the lower floor. Didn’t feel worth the high price.

We have stayed here on multiple occasions, and overall we would recommend the INN ON THE RIVER to anyone wishing to explore and experience the Woodstock/Queche Vermont area. The atmosphere and decor of the inn is topnotch. There is some maintenance/upkeep work to be done on the inn's exterior wooden structures, especially at the back of the inn facing the river (re:sanding and re-staining). Also, the breakfast is lacking a fresh fruit mix assortment (melons, berries grapes, etc). Otherwise, the breakfast is quite good and well-prepared.

This is a beautiful hotel with friendly hlpful employees. My only complaint was that the breakfast food was not hot. They need new food warmers. Otherwise a great place.

It was beautiful, well designed with plenty of public gathering and relaxing places. The restaurant was excellent for both dinner and breakfast. We loved the coffee bars open all day. Great staff who were very professional and friendly!

Great stay, beautiful property. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

We were ok with our stay, but there is a definite lack of staff and attention to detail. There were absolutely no amenities in the room such a a drinking glass. We requested them and it took a very long time to get some. Also there was supposed to be beverages on each floor as stated in a welcome letter but those stations were barren and looked like they hadn't been used in a long time. On a good note, the staff at the restaurant was gracious and the breakfast was good. The location is close to downtown restaurants and shops. Not quite sure about the river part. We could not see it

My family of three has stayed here a countless number of times over the past 10 years. We know the breakfast staff by name and we always look forward to catching up with them on our return stays. The personal connections we have made are what keeps us coming back. That being said, since the inn has recently changed ownership, we have noticed some changes that have made it feel less ‘homey’ and more ‘nickel and dime-y’ if that makes sense. Although they’ve upgraded some rooms with new linens, furniture, paint and accessories, they have a VERY SMALL staff, rates have risen significantly, they charge a resort fee (for the pool, sauna, breakfast and s’mores at night). We will continue to stay here with our family but it’s sad to see the family like feel decline since ownership changed hands.

This hotel was perfect for us. Two rooms next to each other for our family of 5. The beds were the most comfortable of all time. Toiletries were luxurious. Room was clean and comfortable. The pool, sauna and hot tub was perfect for our family. Breakfast was the best we’ve ever had at a hotel. Tasted homemade and fresh. We will be back!
