The Shire Woodstock

They have a beautiful property in the back with fire pits where we were able to start our own fire and enjoy nature. The location was great, wish we could’ve stayed more nights!

Lovely place. We stayed in room 118 with our Lab. It was ideal. Recently updated. Loved looking out over the river and ate our dinner and sipped wine on the deck. Great location for exploring Woodstock. Would return in a heart beat.

Facilities were nice & clean. Office staff were very friendly & helpful! Rooms were large and very nice & clean! Beautiful views of the Ottauquechee River. Fun grassy area with fire pits & cornhole along the edge of the river. Walking distance to the downtown area with shops & restaurants!

Amazing place, can’t wait to go back.

The room was very large and had a lovely view of the grounds and river. And having a grocery store across the street was a plus. I do have two suggestions. First, the room was not well lit. As I said, the room was quite spacious, but only had two small lamps so it was quite dim. There were many electrical outlets, so a couple of stand lamps would be great and not very expensive. Second, there was a lot of open space in the room, so a small table and chairs would have been great as we ate dinner in the room. I ended up carrying in a table from outside to have a place to eat and use my computer.

Spent one night here in late June. My room had a gorgeous view of the river out back and was nicely furnished with what looked like antiques (ie four poster bed). My friend and I sat outside in the evening at one of the many fire pits talking and reading. Staff was friendly and helpful. My one wish was that there was an elevator for me (older lady) to get my bag to the second floor and also I would have preferred a walk-in shower vs a tub I had to step into (same reason-my age). I must note that staff offered to take my bag up for me though!!! Convenient free parking. No restaurant or breakfast on site.

Walkable to downtown Woodstock. Loved our room with balcony over looking the river.

It was terrific and the room was gorgeous.

Beautiful setting. Under construction at the moment. Lovely fire pits along the river for evening gathering. Our room was newly renovated. Small but clean. But without storage: no bureau or closet or even a pole or place to hang clothes. Will be good to revisit once the restaurant is finished and hammering stops. Single Keurig in reception area for all the guests. Convenient grocery storage directly across the street. Lovely eateries and sites to visit within drive range. Interesting mix. I believe it is under new ownership and undergoing needed work before ski season.

We love this place. Our family has stayed here twice and would stay there again. It is clean, so pretty and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Great resort absolutely beautiful area and hotel, very walkable. Worked out great for my family.

Loved the little touches of nooks with games and Starbucks Keurigs everywhere, the fire pits and cornhole by the river and the complementary use of bikes.

It was a very comfortable and nice place to stay with a lot of things within walking distance and having it next to the river was fun. They also have bonfires that you can sit by at night. It was a wonderful day.

The Shire was amazing. The room was clean and spacious. The fire pits along the river were a great way to end the evening. I would absolutely stay here again.

Th peaceful sitting area near the river was ideal for enjoying a nice night by the fire. The perks of camping but with a real bed!

I made five trips to the office because the person in the office said that my credit card didn't go through. I called my credit card company twice and was told each time that there was more than enough money in my account. We finally checked out. This was not resolved until we were at our next destination.

The outside area by the river is gorgeous. Would have used the fire pits if the weather was a little warmer. Smell Of paint from work being done.
