Shell Island Resort - All Oceanfront Suites

Great location for peaceful views and friendly staff

We are regulars here, we very much like the location. We normally arrive early and get a parking pass while our room gets ready. The staff is great, they are very accommodating and helpful. Cannot beat the location. All suites on the beach with a very large private beach. I say private because the resort sits on the end of Wrightsville island. The resort in undergoing renovations, the update is needed in some rooms. You can’t go wrong here. We will continue to return.

Great location right on the beach. Every room has a balcony, which is nice. Handy to have a restaurant on-site; food is okay but nothing special. It's more of a VRBO/condo than a traditional hotel, so rooms are a little larger than in a hotel and have a kitchenette. Not well stocked enough to cook a full meal or anything, but convenient. Housekeeping is VERY limited. You can get fresh towels, soap, etc., and request cleaning, but don't bother--all ours did was make the bed, leaving former guests' dirty washcloths and crusty hamburger on the floor where we found them. There is a $25/day "resort fee" tacked onto the room charge, for which you apparently get nothing.

Property is older. Liked being so close to the beach. Not very clean. Not well maintained.

This resort is always a favorite of ours while in Wrightsville. Lovely views and amenities. Can't go wrong staying here.

Honestly, I’d never go again. It was terrible for starters there was no ac IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER. Then, the kids went down to the pool and there was throw up in the pool. It was just floating there. Then, when we go to speak with someone with how terrible the stay was, they proceeded to tell us there was nothing that they could do. They tell us that we’d have to go through the app we booked with. It was just terrible in all the ways I WILL not go back. I was trying to enjoy it for my daughter’s sake because it was her birthday but even she had a terrible time. The staff is not accommodating. If you have clothes that you put at the pool they’ll throw it over the edge of the wall and you’ll have to give over the wall to grab it to. So all in all it was a terrible stay and I really hope whoever reads this decides to go with somewhere else.

Bar staff was amazing. Pools and hot tub were great. Beach and property was beautiful, clean, and private. Rooms were perfect, view was amazing. Great for our family! Can’t wait to go back. More options in the small shop and restaurant would be nice; hotel is a distance from nearest stores.

They did not clean the room at any time. There was no bar open after 8:00 PM. The beach was very nice. The staff were helpful.

This was my second stay at Shell Island. I enjoyed both.

Perfect location, fun property!

Loved the beach and view when I could enjoy it we had to keep the blinds closed due to AC not workingproperly and when I asked about it I was told it was because of the big windows. Was over charged will be calling about that. The room needs updating but was clean beds were very comfortable.

Amazing beach view!! Large rooms!

All rooms are beach front. Nice balcony. Very clean. I liked having 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, 1 bedroom and combo living, dining and kitchenette.

I have stayed here twice and this place never disappoints

The room was dirty. It had a college dorm refrigerator. I went grocery shopping and had lots of groceries go bad and had no freezer. Front desk tells me they only have 10 units with full size refrigerator and kitchens.Bathrooms were dirty and the popcorn ceiling was falling in chunks on the bedroom floor. They have speaker but no music at either pool. The towels they issue are basic and not $1500.00 for 4 night hotel grade.Every morning we had breakfast in the restaurant and they never got our order right not one time. We will get Virbo next time. It use to be nice place years ago but we will not return.

Deceided to get takeout from local resaurants or go to other restauants. Happy with everything else just be sure to depend upon takeout do not depend on restaurant.

Spectacular views on both sides of property. Mattresses in terrible condition!

Beach room was great and the water was great. The pools were nice and my grandkids loved them. One tthing were noticed, the rooms are in need of maintanance . ehy are shoddy and the window shades didnt work in the bedroom, so the exit sign and safety lighting kept our room lit at bedtime. Rooms were small for the pricepoint for 320-360 a night is a bit steep for this place. I would recommend that peolpe stay at another place. The staff was good though, but the on site cafe was so so and very expensive.

We loved the location as well as having a balcony and parking

Unit 512 is a poorly maintained room with plumbing, sandy floor, dirty furniture, and inoperable televisions . However the staff were doing their best as they can, given the current shortage of staff. We almost move to the other hotels in the strip. They were nice enough to refund for the resort fee . We love the surroundings and Wrightsville Beach.
