We stayed in the Sandpiper Lodge at the beginning of August and surprisingly, the weather was decent. Cool mornings and open windows definitely help!

The hotel does not have air conditioning, which I did not know prior to booking. The hotel could be haunted with several things that occurred there. You can only have coffee in your room if you get up early, before 7:30am and it’s coffee in a tea bag. If you’re a coffee snob, bring your own. All the food is marginal, so don’t expect anything exceptional. You pay for the location and to be in the park. I did meet a few exceptional employees, but most seem to be people on a work-visa from Romania.

There was garbage left at the front door of cabin and dirty wash cloth left in shower

We really enjoyed this place. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was so nice inside! It had lots of room and it looked like it was recently renovated. We would definitely stay here again.

Locating a place for recharging our electronics was a challenge.

No fridge. No microwave. Bathtubs plug doesn't work. Shower head too old water goes everywhere but on you. Most frustrating they DON'T have WIFI when there is no signal on the phone. The Lake Lodge has it, which is a mile away. And they expect you to tip the room service with an APP or website I'm not sure because I can not open it.

This is a beautiful hotel. We knew going into this that we wouldn't have AC. Our room was very warm. They provide a fan but the window only opens a small amount due to the fire code.

Stay was great! Close to everything. Staff was amazing. There are no refrigerators, microwave or TV in rooms. Warning that the power was not reliable over our stay, but it the park not the hotel.

beautiful comfortable and great spa

We enjoyed our stay! The hotel itself is beautiful and has gorgeous views. The location is great for exploring Yellowstone since you’re staying right inside the park, although it is fairly remote with limited food and grocery options nearby. The hotel does have a restaurant and deli, both of which we enjoyed. The staff were friendly, and our room was small but clean and comfortable. Housekeeping service was a little inconsistent during our stay. There is also no Wi-Fi available at this hotel, although it is available at a separate hotel nearby. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and loved being able to stay in such a beautiful location inside Yellowstone!

The lodge was okay. Cleanliness of the floors and around the room could be better.

The hotel needs to figure out a better dinner reservation system. Angi, the hostess was so kind to get us in earlier than our 9:15pm and 8:45pm reservation for 2 nights. Table by the window both nights! As guests we were far away from any restaurants so the main restaurant and Lodge were the only places to eat. We had a great trip. Just a few bumps in the road for the hotel to work on. Thanks

I loved this historic hotel and especially the lobby. My only complaint was that we, along with several other travelers, had to wait a couple hours past check in time to get our rooms as they were not cleaned timely. We couldn't get in until 7pm. Also, cleaning in our cabin was inconsistent, like not providing towels or emptying trash.

There were pluses and minus to this facility. The plus was the extra large room and bathroom. We did not expect this from a hotel that was built in the 1890s. The room and bathroom were very clean. With no AC, why ceiling fans are not common is a mystery. We visited the dining room and had an amazing dinner. Our server was on point and earned every bit of the big tip we left. We also had their breakfast buffet in the dining room and it was well appointed. The outside of the building looks like it needs some attention. There also needs to be more chairs on the extremely large porch. Its a great place to sit to get a great breeze and enjoying the view, but the limited chairs was baffling. The only thing that was a negative was the lack of wifi anywhere on the property. We had to visit a sister facility (5 minute drive) to use their wifi. Also, for those traveling, there isn't any TV in the rooms. But we ran across this at a total of 3 spots. Bring a book to unwind for the evening.

An amazing stay - you will definitely have time to disconnect with the worries of the world

Fire Alarm went off in the building next to us at 1:15 am. No messaging from the staff. Guest bathroom was not clean, toilet paper on the floor, trash cans overflowing with used paper towels. For the price, expected a little bit

we were led to believe that we were staying in the lodge. the receptionist even said he gets that a lot. they need to fix the property description so people are not misled.

It is a beautiful old hotel! That being said, the lack of air conditioning and Wi-fi make you how dependent we've become on such amenities!

If you like Victorian charm this is your place! We have visited this property many times over 50 years we stayed here in our honeymoon and this stay was for our 50 anniversary. We love the view, the charm, the architecture and the overall atmosphere. You can relax inside on the ample seating and enjoy the lake view or outside by the lake. They have their yellow tour buses and a beautiful dining room . Make a reservation for dinner before you arrive. The meal was delicious and served promptly. The service was excellent. Overall stay was great. There is no ac so use the fan that is provided.

Jay checked us in, later gave us tips for sightseeing, and checked us out. He was our only interaction at the hotel because he seemed to always be there when we needed something. Great job!
