Basic motel, not an inn or hotel. Staff was not seen often. And we received one slice of a bar of soap, no shampoo unless you asked the front desk.

Location was in area I wanted to stay. Property is somewhat dated although it appears enhancements were made over the years. Mixed reviews on staff, some are helpful but others require you to ask the right question to get an answer. Property allows you to charge parking in adjacent lot and charge it to your room - but - they don’t know what they’re doing. They charged me for parking and didn’t report it properly to utility and I’m now trying to resolve extra costs between utility and car rental place from afar. No one answers phones, returns calls or does the follow up they promised.

The rooms are spacious and in a great part of Anchorage. Visitors can easily walk to restaurants and the coastal walking trail. Front desk staff were very accommodating.

Great location, but overpriced for the quality you get. Since they do, or did allow smoking in certain rooms, the whole building smells musty and like old smoke. The rooms are spacious with kitchenettes, which is helpful. It’s a 2 star hotel based on my experiences. You’re not going to get super slick or bright, with all the bells and whistles and modern flare, but it has more than enough amenities to appease most folks for a few days.

Voyager Inn is in a convenient location. The air conditioning (advertised on Expedia) didn't exist. It was pretty hot in our room even after opening the door to the faux balcony. We tried using the standing fan in the room but it didn't work and had to wait a while for a new one to be delivered. Then, on the first night, the building had no hot water left; there was hot water on the second night. The room was clean.

It was ok. Although, we had bed bugs in one of the rooms.
-
Great location, decent price, but this place had an odor that permeated my clothes and hair and stayed with me for the whole weekend.
-
The hotel smells like smoke, but otherwise good.
-
Hotel is not bad for the price during summer, however the hotel is very close to restaurants and other institutions.

Stayed for one night to explore Downtown Anchorage. We liked the location as we were able to walk to the eateries and bike rentals we wanted to visit. The staff were friendly upon check-in and check-out. The only downsides were our room smelled of cigarettes, one of the bed sheets were dirty, the refrigerator hadn’t been cleaned, the curtains weren’t blackout curtains as expected (just regular gray curtains). For a one night stay, we managed, but these cleanliness issues would make us hesitant to stay here again.

Room was clean, greeted upon arrival with kindness and attentiveness. The room was pleasantly sound. It is an older building with older trim, but has been kept clean. It does NOT smell like an older hotel. Pleasantly surprised to find our room with a kitchenette. Being an Alaskan and seeing what’s becoming of downtown, I felt safe here at Voyager. We parked our car outside on the side street and it was safe and unbothered. Location is ideal within walking distance of shopping and dining.

Toilet would not flush every time it was used. Hit or miss. Asked the front desk for help and the desk attendant’s only advice was to try to flush it again. When I told her that would make it over flow, an employee that was socializing in the lobby said he would plunge it. When it happened again, they just gave us the plunger to deal with it. Safe did not work. When asked for help, employee came to look at it, he just said he didn’t have any knowledge on how to fix it. Then explained they fired their maintenance guy because “he didn’t do anything.” Did not have services advertised in booking. No parking available, when I arrived we had to pay $30 to park across the street. Also advertised complimentary breakfast, nothing was set out for guests in lobby. Requested an extra garbage bag in the am when checking out, attendant hesitated and told us he would give us one but not to tell anyone. Area did not seem safe as well. Most homeless I’ve ever seen in an area - openly smoking meth on the streets. Would not recommend this hotel. Why this hotel had good reviews is beyond me.

With taxes, etc our room cost us over $400. We were definitely disappointed. Yes, the hotel is in a convenient location, close to restaurants and across from The Captain Cook (which we had reservations for the next night). We arrived from a very long day of travel and wanted a soda or bottled water… not one vending machine in the place. The beds were comfortable, the kitchenette was unnecessary, the curtains weren’t sun blocking. The gal at checkin was very nice.
