Proximity to Shakespeare Festival Queen beds seem smaller than a standard queen.

The breakfast was a real value! We did it 2 mornings. we had 3 to the room, and I missed not having a dresser to store clothes in. I just don't like living out of a suitcases

I LOVE this hotel! I love that it is historic, I love the renovations, with vintage seashells, etc. in old display cases. I love all the many framed plant pictures and my plant themed room. The second floor sitting area is so inviting and relaxing, with all the small tables and chairs overlooking the period style lobby, with old 20's style music softly playing. So wonderful! My room was small, but clean and comfortable. I love how iconic this hotel is (so easy to spot with its height!), and a short walk from the hotel to the OSF theatres and shops! The parking lot was completely full at times, making us resort to street parking, where are car wasn't as safe.

It is an old hotel with small rooms and bathrooms. I can only recommend it as an alternative to other more expensive choices.

This is very much a no-frills hotel with small (but acceptable) rooms, There is one elevator (very old) with a maximum of 5 occupants, and 9 stories to service! For a very minimal breakfast you are charged $5, have to get vouchers on the day from reception and only then will an employee hand you a plate. There is an obsession with pocket change items like the breakfast, the gym arrangement requires them to hold your credit card while you go to use it, and the list goes on and on. It is an impressive looking building, the highlight of the small city, but it is simply in need of major renovations. Nearly all the business isfrom the Shakespeare festival and the competition (within walking distance of the theater) are a collection of B&Bs of which a few - very few- are quasi-high end. When we asked Claude where to go for luxury accommodations he basically mentioned a couple of the B&Bs. In retrospect, the room was quite acceptable but small and very basic, and the adjoining restaurant is reasonably good.

Lovely renovated historic downtown hotel that is super close to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and downtown tourist shop and restaurant area, Clean and cozy room had an exceptionally comfortable bed. I booked a larger room since the typical size of rooms in these historic hotels is smaller. The $5 breakfast was a convenient and great option. Parking is very close and handy. A charming hotel to chose if your activity is based in the downtown area and you appreciate the charm of an era gone-by. Afternoon chocolate chip cookies were also a plus!

Beautiful historic building located in the heart of downtown within walking distance of theaters, restaurants and shops. Climate control in the rooms is excellent and very quiet. Breakfast bar was very good.

View, comfortable, convenient One elevator

We have long wanted to stay but fear we missed its prime. The front desk was busier on their cell phone than attending to guests. Unclear where amenities were, not pointed to restaurant on property, we thought it was closed but it was in fact open and by the time we figured it out, they were closed. For the price, you can do better.

We loved the garden and the mezzanine. A wonderful welcoming experience.

Compact room, nice bed. Nicely renovated. So conveniently located! Nice views from the upper floors.
-
Historic hotel, not really upgraded that much in the past 50 years. Breakfast is basic, with a voucher system that seems like a pointless hassle. The main advantage is superb location.
-
Historic property conveniently located downtown, walking distance to the Shakespeare Theatre and good restaurants. Stayed in small queen room. Interior of hotel is worn and dated. As an example, the toilet seat finish worn off in multiple places. Spider webs noticeable in lobby area. Photo's on the website do not represent current condition. Breakfast at $5 was hardly worth the price. Front desk staff was not trained to be effective. After asking then hearing it was our first visit, the desk agent told us our room number and pointed to the elevator. Did not mention there was a tea/coffee/water station on the upper lobby level. Did not mention the breakfast hours. Cleaning staff were congregating on 3rd floor where our room was located due to laundry facilities being there also. Sitting on stairs looking at their cell phones. This place has potential, but the shine currently is worn off.
