Sand Dollar Motel

This was the perfect spot for my family. Super affordable and great location.

For a sub $100/night place to stay at the beach it wasn't too bad. Very clean, smelled nice, recently updated, great water pressure, 10 minute walk from the beach. The only issue I had was the small window ac unit couldn't keep the room below 75 and the temps weren't over 85 during my stay. Other than that, I had an enjoyable stay. Hopefully the room will have an AC sized like the other rooms because I do plan to come back

Everything but the location.

We stayed in a 3 bed, 2 room unit that also had a kitchenette. It met our needs for a one night stay. The beds were comfortable and the sheets felt nice. We didn't use the kitchenette. The shower was nice. It's an older motel and very close to the beach. There was no hair dryer. I didn't ask if they had one we could use so I don't know if that would have been an option. Be aware that if you book on Expedia you will be paying more than you agreed to on Expedia once you get there. Expedia said it would be $157 for the room but the hotel charged me $172. Not a huge difference but I've never had that happen when booking through Expedia before. The lady at the office said that Expedia charges tax and that they do too?? I'm just glad it was no more of a difference in price. The lady also told me she could charge me $10 per person over 2 people but she didn't. When I booked on Expedia I listed 4 people and the room has 3 queen beds so they shouldn't charge extra since it's listed as a roon for up to 6.

Very nice room. It was clean with plenty of space. Nice little walk to the beach. The check-in process was quick and painless. Been here for 2 years in a row for our anniversary and we love it.

It was such a cute little motel & the staff was so friendly! It was super close to Fort Macon and only a mile from the center of Atlantic Beach. It was also in a great spot with a non busy road to walk to the beach! Also loved the sweet dog at the front desk! No complaints!

Close to the beach! It’s all basic needs but that’s all that matters.

The sand dollar motel is my new location. We had 3 beds which was basically a 2 room apartment. It was clean and smelled fresh. My friend and I were shocked with how spacious the room was and how nice the bathroom was. It suited by 3 kids myself and my friend with space to spare! The staff was also amazing, very kind and accommodating. The only issue was our a/c was a little weak. The room got a bit humid after all the showers and the a/c just couldn't overpower it. However my friend and I both agreed this did not ruin the experience and felt it was pretty common so close to the water.

Make sure you check the shower. Shower had not been cleaned good and had to ask staff to replace shower curtain because it had visible mildew at the bottom 12 inches of the shower curtain.

The room was spacious and clean. The mattresses were very comfortable.

I did not like being greeted by a big black dog, everyone is not comfortable with dogs and she never offer to put the dog away, when he jumped on my fiance standing just as tall as he is I left the office, all she could say is he is very friendly and like people .The only dislike about the room is the bedroom TV had no remote, my fiance went to ask for one and he was told it was stolen and she would contact the owner, never got the remote.

The pictures on website are not current, the room was extremely small, no common area, no cable tv, door extremely hard open and close due to rot, refrigerator frozen solid. Owner didn’t care-only interested in the money. We checked in at 4:00pm and too late in the evening to find another place to stay. Checked out next morning around 9:00. Didn’t even stay 24hrs.😡Owner was rude and only stated we should have looked first.

Great location. Great value. I really appreciated that the manager stayed late to let us into the room!

My experience at the Sand Dollar was absolutely incredible 😌😌😌I was greeted with friendly front desk staff at check in and checkout.My stay was the best with great service and quick response from staff which made the days of rain that I had during my stay the best 😊😊😊 the room I stayed in was the economy multiple beds and kitchenette and was in very good condition👍👍 ac and beds were good. Parking was ok. Maybe having the beds lower about 3 to 4 inches and get some pads to put on the metal table and benches in the room to save the floor from getting scratched up. But overall I highly recommend the Sand Dollar to everyone. Short distances to just about everything.

What a wonderful staff and place to stay. My son and I will be returning again . Check in was a breeze , staff was always helpful and friendly. Great experience
