Staff was very helpful.

The lobby smelled awful like smoke as well as the hallways. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and flat, you could feel the springs in it.
-
Hallway smelled like weed. I checked out a day early and would give refund.

This is an extended stay Hotel that is well kept and quiet. I was only there one night, though. AC worked well. My bed was a bit lumpy, not that great. I would come again as the price was good.

When we stayed at WoodSpring Suites in Bakersfield, the clerk told me that I was required to pay a $100 hotel deposit. She said the deposit could be paid either in cash or by credit card. When I asked for a receipt or some type of official documentation for the $100 deposit, she did not want to provide one. I explained that if I was going to put the deposit on my credit card, I wanted proof that the $100 had been paid. Instead, she simply wrote the information down on a piece of paper. This made me feel very uncomfortable because I felt the situation was unusual and somewhat sketchy. I wanted to make sure there was a proper record of the deposit and that I would have proof of the transaction. After I questioned the situation, she told me, “I don’t want you to be mad, so I’ll just waive the $100 for you. You don’t have to pay anything.” Although I appreciated not having to pay the deposit, the way the situation was handled left me concerned. I feel that if a $100 hotel deposit is required, guests should be clearly informed about it and provided with an official receipt or documentation showing that the deposit was collected and explaining how and when it would be returned.

There were toenail clippings on the floor in the main hall. The sink was slow to drain. The room was spacious but had a weird smell. It was like a cleaner/fragrance mixed with something sour. The appliances were also definitely ran down. Maybe we just got a bad room. There is also a lot of homelessness prevalent in the area, however, the security ensured the property was secured. No issues there. There is also secured multi-door access on premises. There are also train tracks nearby and it was noisy. Overall, decent but would look into other options first.
