The Shades Motel

My actual stay was ok, I really didn't have any complaints in regards to my room, or the property itself. Before leaving the room or any room, a mini cleaning( with my own supplies) is done as well as emptying all trash. Two hours after checking out I received a call from the facility accusing me of stealing their towels and pillows from the room. I was so shocked and confused, I have never ever in my life been accused of taking used items from any hotel/motel, and I do travel nursing. I always bring my own bedding, pillows and towels with me because yes i do chose to stay in places low budget places,so with that being said I don't trust their cleaning process. After being called a towel and pillow theif I offered to come back and allow him to search my vehicle and he replied no. Keep in mind they claim their property is fully surveillanced. I have never been so offended in my life, literally had the audacity to accuse me of stealing used towels and pillows!!! I would not recommend this place to anyone for lodging, I added pictures of all items in my truck,as you can see I had my own pillows.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. There are some things that need to be updated. The faucet on the hot tub and shower was wonky. The bathroom door did not latch.

Not great The bed was way too soft and uncomfortable , there was hair in the Jacuzzi. Yuck!

We arrived prior to the allowed check-in time but the staff was quick to get our room ready.

Their high rating should not be compared against a hotel’s high rating. This is a good motel for quick business but not for a family trip. Room had an extremely strong smell of smoke. The staff was friendly and attentive but this is definitely not where you’d want your family/kids to stay. Perfectly fine for business travel or quick travel stop for a night. Decently clean. Well lit at night but “crowd” did not give you the safest feeling. It is BR after all. Felt happy that they had an armed security guard there though. He was very kind.

Tried this motel when my usual place was booked and others were expensive for LSU homecoming. Family run, they are friendly and seem to take pride in the property. Just one driveway in and out that goes by the front office, so felt secure. Arrived back from football game after midnight and was happy to see it well-lit, with a bright light above each door. Room furniture is dated but the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Very clean room. Only insect I saw was a harmless caterpillar in the bathroom. Had a fridge and microwave and good tv. After leaving my room, I saw housekeeping immediately enter and remove all my bedding, so can confirm it gets washed between guests. Overall, not fancy by any stretch, but had everything I needed at a very good price.

It was very clean & comfortable. My only complaint was that there were no electrical plugs in the bathroom, which was very clean.

Staff was quick and efficient with check in and when I called the desk for assistance. Room was very clean and fantastic looking
