Great location in the Kona area!

From the first day, it was obvious that the room had not been cleaned properly. We found a used Band-Aid stuck to one of the bath towels, and the bathtub was also dirty. After checking in, I even developed a rash on my arm. While I can’t say for certain what caused it, the poor hygiene made me very concerned. The problems didn’t end there. The ground floor was under renovation during our stay, with loud construction or landscaping noise early in the morning that repeatedly woke us up. It also ruined the view and completely took away the relaxing vacation atmosphere we expected. When it rained, the balcony leaked badly, leaving dirty black debris all over the floor. I have photos and videos of every issue mentioned above. This was by far one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Given the poor cleanliness, construction, and maintenance problems, I believe this hotel fell well below the standard advertised, and I hope Expedia will seriously consider providing appropriate compensation or a refund.

This hotel is in a great location, centrally located in Kona. If you are doing Manta Ray snorkeling, the launch is just a few minutes walk away to all the different companies. The staff in the lobby can even help you book it. Breakfast buffet was really good, mainlanders may think it is expensive but you will pay the same or more anywhere else. After a big rain there was standing water in various spots of the hotel including our lanai. But this is a really nice hotel

Everything was great from food to amazing views, staff and room. I only have one recommendation is that they update their bathrooms. Felt old and dated

The cashier at the hotel supermarket has an extremely poor sense of service. The basic knowledge of the room attendants is all lacking. The room is too old. The bed is even collapsed.

We booked an oceanfront room, but more than half of the view outside the window was not actually ocean view. At most, it should be considered a partial ocean view. There were also many ants in the room carpet. They were not very noticeable at first, but whenever my belongings fell on the floor, they quickly became covered with ants. In addition, there was no housekeeping service during our stay. We stayed for two nights, and no housekeeping was provided at all on the second day. After contacting the front desk, we were told that a two-night stay is considered a short stay and does not include housekeeping. However, this was not communicated to us at check-in. Eventually, housekeeping only came around 5 p.m. after we specifically requested it. These are the areas where we feel the hotel could improve. Other than the above issues, everything else was very good.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Outrigger in Kona. We stayed in an Ocean View Room for four nights. The lanai was large with a table. The rooms were clean and spacious. We loved the pool with the Ocean View and the slide. The store/coffee shop onsite was helpful. We ate at the restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The food was a little on the expensive side but was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel with the best staff! Loved my stay here! I’d choose to stay here every time! Such a wonderful experience! Views are incredible, breakfast was delicious, the luau is beautiful and an absolute must do!! Mahalo!

Beautiful resort! Upon checking in the young lady was rude and not helpful just doing her job. Valet,Ron? And his crew very accommodating and friendly, restaurant, pool restaurant bar people were great and made up for first welcoming. Breakfast buffet good but expensive, but it’s a resort! Room spacious with a small sofa and balcony with a gorgeous view of mountains and ocean. What we expected and enjoyed our 5 day visit!

Walking distance to mantaray night swim.

We dined at Piko for dinner twice. The food was okay, but could be better. I think in 2026 it’s time to introduce a dedicated mocktail menu, rather than asking folks to just pick an alcohol cocktail and do the math on wanting to remove the spirits and see what happens. The room was fine, I appreciated all the bed side plug in options. The pool was excellent :)

The front desk persons in the nigh shift are not very nice. When I asked the reason why my room wasn’t being cleared up for the all day and when it will be cleared up. The front desk person told me the housekeeper has their own schedule and he didn’t know when the housekeeper will go to clean the room. That’s terrible.

Great location for the snorkeling and manta ray diving. Both activities were a 5-10 walk. Beautiful ocean view. I would stay there again

The staff was good at answering questions about what to do on the island. Adam with corsair was great. Will and the rest of the staff with the valet service was great. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, Thank you Outrigger for a great vacation.

My room was always cleaned well and was accommodating to my 6 month old baby. The pool was nice and well kept. The only small complaint could be that the customer service was hit or miss on the friendliness. All the guys at the valet were nice and fast. If you want a drink at the pool you’re gonna go up to the bar and get it yourself. Food at the hotel was so so. Better to eat off property. Other than that it was a great hotel stay.

The topper was we were able to watch the Manta Ray watching from our balcony!

We enjoyed our stay here. My son loved the pool with the beach entry and water slide. We enjoyed walking the trails and garden. I loved the morning yoga. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable.

Staff had alot of Aloha, very friendly and hotel was clean and comfortable.

Enjoyed the pool and adult side was a plus. Pool side sofas looked nice but worn (maybe dirty) so skipped. Breakfast choices at Piko were tasty and staff at Piko were a joy. I skipped the breakfast buffett since limited fruit options. Loved the bloody mary with ocean vodka and the Monte Cristo. Manta tours meet in parking lot so nice convenience. Loved the manta ray pictures and history by Piko. Check - in could improve. Didn't give good directions to room. No carts or assistance to room offered and took us a while to find the room. Also mutliple signs at checkin desk states hold on bank cards and when I asked staff for details they did not seem familiar with details at first until I asked for clarity a second time. Room down the hall from me had plastic taped to ground all the way into the hall - looked dirty and unwelcoming. Ocean outlook areas above adult pool on 3rd and 4th floor could be improved be because the building roof below was not pretty (think its a bar roof) - consider light landscaping there.
